Mr. Salatin offers not just hope, but a concrete plan for those of us who care to work hard and benefit from our labor. He is a practical thinker who only recommends what he finds works for him -- and works well. I found this book to be well written and easy to follow. I raised 300 birds this year with a very low mortality -- and it was FUN!

Joel Salatin is well known in the poultry world for detailed records on what does and does not work when raising cornish-cross chickens for meat. Those records led to this book that has saved me a lot of potential problems as I raised over 400 chickens last summer. I had excellent results and referred to his book many times. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to raise healthy, anti-biotic free chickens. These taste so much better than store-bought chicken, you'll never want to by butcherd chicken again. Before this summer, I had never raised chickens, so I found this book invaluable.
