This contains both sides of their Diamond singles, plus a bunch of unreleased originals (some recorded when they were known as the Triumphs) and a couple of Pat Sickafus solo demos. Much of this is an odd mixture of frat rock (especially evident in the organ), teen idol-type pop, and Nashville-like country-pop; Pat Farrell/Sickafus has a deep, melodramatic delivery that would have been better-suited to Nashville country than rock. Within the context of the mountain of garage reissues, this is rather refreshing; it's corny and rather catchy, if almost instantly forgettable. Within the context of sixties music, though, it's trivial. Occasionally the group locks into a gutsier soul-rock groove (particularly on the Triumphs cuts), and again the results are pleasant and dispensable. The truly committed should know that five additional Triumphs originals, recorded prior to the arrival of Sickafus, are available on the Arf! Arf! compilation Eastern PA Rock Part 1 (1961-'66).
