About the Author

Jack is an RV full-timer, living on the road with his wife, Nadyne, and their Cairn Terrier, Lucy. Jack has found a niche in the detective, mystery and crime/thriller genres with several Pat Ruger Mystery Series novels on the market.

Jack also has several books of poetry and photography on the market and has been a Staff Writer for Poetic Monthly Magazine. His first poems were published when he was just 10 years old when two pieces submitted by a teacher were accepted by a literary magazine. Jack has since written poetry off and on throughout his life.

Being able to weave mysteries was unexpected but understandable, considering his influences growing up. Jack has always had a penchant for telling stories and he admired this quality in his uncle, Pat. No, Pat Ruger was not modeled after his uncle...

This is a great story that had me truly hooked from the beginning. The plot is quite elaborate which I quite like, and there are plenty of twist and turns that kept me guessing throughout the book. There are parts to this story that are very clever, and I enjoyed the lighter moments the Author has added. Pat Ruger is a great character, and I’m really happy that this is book 5 in the series, and that there are another 4 books for me to read. Pat Ruger was one hell of a private investigator, and the CIA certainly knew all about him and how good he was. So, when a North Korean man is murdered that they believe is tied into one of their own investigations, they don’t hesitate in asking for his help. Especially since they can’t operate legally on home soil. Of course, Pat feels compelled to get involved after his girlfriend Maggie got to know the victim Chris Choo, who was one of the poets they both went to see perform. However, it’s hard for Pat as he still hasn’t forgiven himself for the children he couldn’t save from a previous investigation, even though he did manage to save some of them from dying. He’s going to need to be extra careful though, as the North Koreans will have no hesitation in killing anyone that gets in their way. I really did enjoy this book from the first page, right through to the last page. A very entertaining and captivating read.
