Praise for AS Bond’s earlier books (written as Alexandra Pratt):

"I have known a few wonderful-crazy, damn-fool writers who would risk their lives for a great adventure story, but I have met only two - both husky, well-experienced outdoorsmen - who would have paddled a canoe into the Labrador wilds. And one of them is dead. Alexandra Pratt is so reckless she scares me and so entrancing that I could not put her book down." - Ken McGoogan, author of Fatal Passage
“Lyrical and adventurous” – Conde Nast Traveler
“The writing is stunning.” - Canoeist Magazine
"The climax is pure adventure." - Spirit of Canada Magazine

In Patriot, the first book of the Brooke Kinley Adventure series, author A.S. Bond weaves a riveting political thriller that transports the reader all over the world from Afghanistan to Washington D.C. to the Canadian Wilderness as Daily Post staff reporter Brooke Kinley embarks on a journey to uncover a traitor promoting terrorism before another deadly attack occurs. Author A.S. Bond easily draws the reader into this fast-paced story that has enough intrigue, tension, suspense, danger, secrets, conspiracy, military action and espionage, terrorism, and nail biting adventure that is sure to keep the reader sitting on the edge of their seats. The author calls upon her profession as a journalist and adventure seeker to provide the reader with a heart racing novel that engages the reader to follow Brooke on her dangerous journey, while keeping them guessing the true identity of the traitor and their motives. Patriot is a gripping tale that has a true sense of realism that could easily be taken directly from the headlines of any daily newspaper. With a large cast of realistic characters; dramatic dialogue and interactions; and a true-to-life pulse racing storyline that provides much food for thought, Patriot is a must read for fans of conspiracy theories and political adventure thrillers.

Really action packed mystery, was a little hard to follow at first with so many names and scenarios. What is really frightening is how easily this could be true

I really enjoyed the the beginning of this book and was captured right from the beginning. I am looking forward to the next book because the ending of this one was a little unsatisfying and left a person at large who should have been in jail. I hope the editing oi better on the next version, too. There were senseless errors that are uncalled for in the digital age. Or maybe relying on digital editing is the problem?

And very interesting characters...however, Brooke had too many "skills" to be a believable young reporter...she was a one-woman force

Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite Patriot: A Brooke Kinley Adventure is an action and adventure thriller written by A.S. Bond. Brooke's been given a tip by her friend, Scott Jensen, a deputy director at the Department of Defense, that a recent Taliban attack in the Middle East was conducted using highly advanced weaponry. The government's scientists were able to identify a chip in the retrieved weapon, which had originally been manufactured for use in mining operations. The technology behind the chip has been linked to Jean Maynard, an industrialist whose only mine holdings are located up in the Northern Labrador province. Brooke decides to do some first-hand investigating and sets out for Canada, armed with camping gear, a SatNav phone and a canoe. A.S. Bond's terrorist thriller, Patriot: A Brooke Kinley Adventure, is exciting, intelligent and fast-paced. This is a complex thriller that takes place on two very different levels: Scott's world of government bureaucracy and intrigue and the icy wilderness of Northern Canada. While I was originally attracted to this book because of the adventure aspect, I soon found myself also drawn into the complexities of Scott's world. Brooke is a marvelous character; she's intelligent, independent and at home in the wilds. The abilities of Dex, the astrophysicist she rescues from a sinking plane, perfectly complement Brooke's own as the two ride rapids, cope with a grouchy bear, navigate miles of mine tunnels and try to stop a major terrorist attack. Patriot is savvy and smart and a lot of fun, and it's a cut above the average run-of-the-mill terrorist thriller. It's highly recommended.

Brooke is a journalist hot on the heels of the story of a lifetime, but, getting all the gory details and making it out alive is another matter. Brooke will need all her wits about her and some assistance along the way in order to break the news. This Brooke Kinley Adventure by A. S. Bond is fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat stuff. Barely leaving time between chapters in which to catch your breath before you're flung into the next assault on your emotions. This novel gripped me from the outset and put me through the wringer before flinging me out like a wet rag at the end! Brooke is an engaging character, a young woman who is self-reliant and motivated. She is assisted on her journey towards the truth by a few men, but they need her help as much as she needs theirs. My only criticism would be that I found the chapters focusing on Scott lacked the thrill of the chapters centred around Brooke. I found myself skimming in order to get to the next bout of action. Bond's prose is exciting, descriptive and enchanting; the story thrilling and explosive. A great read for anyone who fancies adventure on a grand scale. Special thanks to author A. S. Bond for the copy I received in return for an honest review. 4/5 stars.

When you pick up Patriot, you assume you already know what's going to happen: international spies, espionage and thrills, with the only difference being that a woman is the star of the series, instead of a man. But you'd be selling the Brooke Kinley series short with that conclusion. You can taste the dirt, feel the heat, and find yourself clinching the pages (or the e-reader cover) as you follow Brooke's adventures, as she's thrown into the international world of terrorism that most of us are able to avoid from the security of our homes. But as a journalist looking for her first big break, she's not keen on sitting on the sidelines. I really appreciated the fact that Brooke is a strongly written character, and not some delicate flower waiting for a man to save her or show her the way out of danger. On the contrary, she dives head first into the adventure and danger that she finds, and I often found myself smiling as I heard some of her sharp-witted responses in my head. Overall, Patriot is a great read, especially for the summer days lounging by the lake or pool. You don't want to walk away from it for too long, but it's just as savory in one sitting or four.

Patriot is a thriller, filled with suspense that carries the characters and the actions from the halls of Washington to the wilds of Labrador. It was impossible to put down as the action and suspense continued from page to page. The meetings and interactions of all the spook agencies were very realistic, and the knowledge that someone highly-placed in the chains of command was a traitor made for a most difficult investigation to connect the dots between terrorists, weapons manufacturers, top politicians and rich tycoons. The story is imaginative and highly entertaining. The writing is among the best with just the right level of description to create mental pictures without bogging down. I definitely want to read it again, even though I know the identity of the traitor.

After being on a helicopter patrol in Afghanistan against  the Taliban where a helicopter comes down under fire, it turns out there is a new gizmo a prototype of a new weapon which has a micro chip in it in the war against the Taliban and a billionaire business man in New York owns it. Its a novel of undercover espionage at the highest level the white house cover up which they want kept under wraps. Its a crime thriller engulfed in terrorism  and the war against terror with a secret arms dealer in the United States.
