Overview

After decades of erosion of the U.S. Constitution, the United States is faced with a major constitutional crisis not seen since the Civil War. Despite being plagued by scandals and economic woes, a president astoundingly wins re-election to a second term largely based on the promise of redistribution of the nations wealth and an October Surprise.

The night he is re-elected, an assassination attempt throws America into chaos, resulting in riots, food shortages and violence across the country. When it is discovered the assassin has ties to the Tea Party, the President and his administration see their opportunity to quash political opposition and launch a diabolical conspiracy to hide the truth of the assassins real motives.

The President and his minions attempt to keep the lid on the conspiracy by any means necessary, including issuing unconstitutional executive orders. Jack-booted federal agents are ordered to raid private citizens homes to eradicate the Tea Party once and for all.

After an ordinary citizen in Texas, a founder of a local Tea Party, is terrorized and held without due process, the governor of Texas dispatches iconic Texas legend Pops Younger to rescue him. The entire country becomes riveted in the suspense of the high-stakes chess game that pits the State of Texas and the Texas Rangers against the administration and the ATF, which in turn escalates to unprecedented proportions.

An exciting and fast-paced political thriller, Patriots of Treason presents a very realistic what if scenario that will keep you on the edge of your seat, regardless of your political persuasion.

Excellent read! Could not put it down. Story line is fictional, but provides enough real occurrences and basis in current political decisions that it does not seem out of the realm of possibility. All characters are made up but very much based on their real life counterparts with similar mannerisms and beliefs. No topic is sacred as Roberts takes swings at all of them and I recommend to all my politically active friends.

This is a great debut novel. David has done a great job at crafting a story that sucks the reader right in, and then you don't want to put it down. If you're looking for it, or an aware reader you might see some connections to the current situations that connect this story to the present day, but it isn't like the book was written with that in mind. This is the kind of book that when you pick it up, you better be ready to be sitting for quite some time until you finish it, because you'll not want to put it down. David does a great job at craft a tale that compels you to keep reading. You get invested in the storyline and the characters that are there. I'm not a fact checker and I know nothing of military things, I just enjoy a good action-y, thriller-y, political book. I just moved to Texas when I got this book, so reading this was kind of fun! It was an interesting link into a state I know little about- I must say I still don't know it as well as my native California... or even Alabama (I spent two years there)... It's a good read, check it out.

This book is timely and realistic. A great perspective on what could happen to our country if we continue down the path that we are on. The writing was direct and engaging. No superfluous language. A page turner. I gave it to my Dad and he couldn't put it down. The writer had a great understanding of the Tea Party and soul of Texas.

I enjoyed this book and felt it was very realistic. It was also a timely book with the Presidential election and American Tea Party. I received a free copy of the book for an honest review.
