This is book 2 in the Canine Cupids series. You don't have to read book 1 as these characters are completely stand alone, although book 1 was great too! This one is about Paige Turner, who is mentioned in book 1 but never seen and Luke Donovan. Paige was a lawyer in Boston until the stress from the job and the company she worked for made her completely break down. She now lives in New Hampshire near her mother and trains dogs. She has finally found some happiness and much needed sanity after what happened. In walks Luke, he needs someone to help him train his dog that he got from his sister. Luke is a lawyer in Boston who is in New Hampshire to open another office for the firm he works for. He is currently what Paige was before. They are both attracted to each other but Paige knows that if he is going to be way he is now and stay in Boston that there is no future for them. She can't go back to Boston and she certainly can't go back to being in a law firm as she still have panic attacks just trying to walk into the building. Luke likes his life the way it is, he has no desire to go back to being the poor kid on a farm ever again. Especially not after what happened when he was a teenager! I loved these two together! They are both so complicated and have so many different issues between the two of them and yet, they manage to figure it out in the end. Paige knows exactly what she can and cannot handle and she isn't willing to back down and go down that road she already traveled. She doesn't want Luke to go through the same things she went through but she also wants him to be happy. If law makes him happy then she will support that but not with the way it is now. Luke knows he is seriously attracted to Paige but he doesn't think that it can go beyond just a sexual relationship since he isn't willing to compromise about living in Boston. Until he has to go back for work and has to live without her. This was the catalyst that really made them both look at what they not only truly wanted but what they needed. This was a great read and I couldn't put it down. I read it in one night because it was just that good and kept my attention that well! Loved it!
