About the Author

Gail Woodard is the author of four books, including her most recent, Write the Book You're Meant to Write: A guide for first-time authors. She is the founder of and publisher at Dudley Court Press, where she helps authors clarify and achieve their publishing goals. "William Zinsser's classic, On Writing Well, Steven King's On Writing, and Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird are three books that have served me well as a writer trying to write well. I remember my early lack of confidence - 'How dare I even think of myself as a writer! And even if I could write, what do I do with what I've written?' I hope my book helps many people overcome those same fears."

A frequent speaker and presenter at industry conferences, Gail has an MBA from Yale University and worked for many years as a consultant and executive in the real estate and banking industries. She has also been a visiting instructor at several universities.

"It's a wonderful time for people who have knowledge or a passion they want to share through a book," says Gail. "We love to work with thoughtful people with a meaningful message. And, unlike most other book publishers," says Gail, "at Dudley Court Press we start with the author, not the manuscript." Dudley Court Press, a full-service hybrid publisher, offers author coaching, a full range of publishing and marketing services, and extensive education programs for writers. "We're very proud of our authors who are making a difference in the world through their books."

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Woodard has resided in California, France, Mexico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Brazil and traveled to 22 other countries, and is the proud mother of three grown sons.

"When I wrote my first book, Pay Attention, Say Thank You: Seven rules and practices for joyful living, I was strongly influenced by many "new age" spirituality books. I was delighted when one reader compared my book to The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and said that my book was much easier to understand! Since then I continue to enjoy books like Happier by Tal Ben Shahar and 365 Health and Happiness Boosters by MJ Ryan. I believe that we all have the capacity to be happier and more joyful than most of us are used to being."

Currently, she lives contentedly in Sonoita, Arizona with her husband Bob, where she enjoys yoga and she's learning to love javelinas (wild boars)-or at least co-exist with them.
