I enjoy baking, and I also really love cupcakes, so Brenna thought that this would be a good pick for me. Although this book was written for a younger audience, I really liked it and thought that it was pretty was pretty good novel that I didn't find overly juvenile (and the cupcakes were a neat twist). This one could definitely be enjoyed by readers who like reading MG books. Reasons to Read: 1.Kylie as a well-rounded character: Judging from the cover, you'd figure that Kylie is a really girly girl whose main interests are mostly about fashion, makeup, and baking. She has a bit of a unique twist, though. She is a huge fan of monster movies. I thought that this put a nice, fresh twist on her personality. She was constantly making references to the movies themselves, which I found to be quite amusing. I also found her to be very likable. She isn't just a victim to bullying who sobs about it. She tries to make friends, but it just never seems to work out for her. 2.The Cupcake Club: I think that this is one of the best ideas for a club ever. I mean, I would totally join this club if it was available at my school! Nevertheless, I liked the role that it had to play in the story. I liked how it brought together all the main characters, making them form a strong friendship. I thought that this was a unique club idea in a novel, and something I could really relate to. On top of that, there are cupcake recipes in the back of the book. Pretty awesome, right? I haven't tried any of them out yet, but I'm hoping to do that soon! I did find that I rolled by eyes at the mean girl, Meredith. I really disliked her, she just seemed really annoying and kind of lame without any real reason or motivations. Other that, though I thought that this was a pretty good book for the younger crowd, or even if you're in your mid-teenage years (and are mildly addicted to cupcakes, like I am)! ARC received from Raincoast Books.

Warning: You WILL want a cupcake after reading The Cupcake Club: Peace, Love & Cupcakes! This book is overall just plain cute. It is a very cute book and a great book for a young girl to read. It also hits on issues such as bullying, money, small business, failure and making friends. Kylie is a character that does her best to move past the bullying and to do something to make her life happier and more enjoyable and in the process, also helps other girls and she makes new friends. All of these girls have a great work ethic and it makes me proud of them. I loved reading about all of the successes and failures the club had while baking. At first you get to see them make the worst cupcakes and then before you know it, they are making cupcakes that people are buying and they are getting more orders they can’t even handle. I loved the “Batter Butt Dance”…had me cracking up! This book is packed with baking tips and tricks that are perfect for a younger crowd…or even brand new bakers. The recipes that are included at the back of the book are simple to follow. The Berks also include a list of tips for the new cupcake baker that I found to be helpful. One day when I was reading this book at park, a little girl came up to me and asked me about it! Obviously the cover is eye catching to the right audience! My four-year-old is even jealous of my book!

Loved it. Kylie Carson is a fourth grader who is a complete monster movie lover. She is bullied by a girl named Meredith, and school is bad for her. But then, it gets worse. He favorite teacher is going away, replaced by a woman named Juliette. She gives Kylie a delicious idea: if they started a baking club together, Kylie would make friends, and, Meredith will finally leave her alone. Kylie gets her three members-Jenna, Sadie, and Lexi. They name their club Peace, Love, and Cupcakes: PLC. An event makes their club famous-now, everyone wants their cupcakes. Later on, Meredith's mother orders cupcakes-with very strict instructions along with it. Kylie breaks the instructions without letting her friends know. When she finds out thag it's not as great as she thought it would be, she confesses to Jenna, Juliette, Lexi, and Sadie, and then to Meredith and her parents. Meredith's family says that Kylie will be expelled and it will be the end of PLC. But will it be? Read to find out! A sweet story to fill anyone's heart. It is sure to make your hips hurt from laughing. Great book!

Peace, Love & Cupcakes is the start of a wonderful club called The Cupcake Club. Kylie has just moved up north from Florida and is having a hard time fitting in and also dealing with a bully named Meredith. One day after a teacher noticed that Kylie is having a hard time, she suggests that Kylie start a club but after having a hard time getting people to join, Kylie starts looking for people who are outsiders like herself. As she finds three girls who are like herself and with special skills, the club is destined to be a hit! A cupcake club is formed but it doesn't go easy the first time around but as the four girls learn to make the best cupcakes that there is, they become highly recommended. When Meredith's mother calls in for a big order for Meredith's birthday party and a request not to put a ingredient in because Meredith is allergic to it. When the day arrives for the party and with Kylie wanting to get back at Meredith for all she has done, the ingredient goes on the cake at the last minute and causes Meredith to get sick quickly and makes Kylie regret everything. After Meredith's mother tells the school and with the club's future in limbo, Kylie tells the school everything that Meredith has done to her and it's ends with four girls coming together that nobody ever saw being friends to save their club. This book may be for young kids but I so loved this book and the start of this fantastic series! When I used to work at a Elementary School Library, I could see so many kids going crazy for this series and books that Sheryl & Carrie write. Reading this book makes me want to go find other books in this series and read until I'm all caught on the series and plus who can turn down a book that includes recipes!! Thank You to Sheryl & Carrie Berk for writing such a fantastic start to a series that I think will do very well!! I borrowed this book from my local Library.
