Tragic confrontations at schools throughout the past two decades are striking evidence that teens need help and training in peaceful conflict resolution. God knows each conflict a teen goes through—with their families, friends, and teachers—and he is in control. In this student edition of The Peacemaker, Ken Sande and Kevin Johnson show teens, youth leaders, parents, and pastors, how they can apply biblical principles to conflict situations, allowing for forgiveness and reconciliation instead of hatred or violence. With an approachable style that treats teens with respect, this much-needed resource can be used individually or as part of a small group or youth group study.

Full of illustrations, scripture, and practical application, The Peacemaker offers the four "G's" of interpersonal reconciliation: Glorify God; Get the long out of your eye; Gently restore; Go and be reconciled. Sande's principles and applications are generally deeply rooted in both scripture and practical experience. However, Sande also enjoys dabbling in prooftexts, false analogies, and ill-reasoned arguments. Sande¿s approach to the contemporary church is often reactionary and his use of scripture reductionistic. In all, Sande provides good principles for resolving personal conflict; to access these jewels, however, one must sift through a good deal of distracting material. C-

My comment to The_Persistant_Widow: first of all, there are no words to describe how deeply sorry am I to hear of your situation; The Peacemaker, or any book of this nature is not meant to empower individuals in this way. In this day in age, it is so easy to attack the church. The truth is, many churches (pastors, elders. etc.) are not equipped to handle such matters. It does gladden my heart to hear that you did seek a place that provided the protection you were looking for. ... I have only began reading the book (-actually, I started towards the middle of it because I started the Bible Study class late). I'm not one to read books that are drenched in scripture, but after reading the book for five minutes I had so many thoughts running thru my mind, and I truly look forward to reading the entire book.

This book made peace real for me. I can not recommend it highly enough. If you have unhealed hurts, read this slowly, prayerfully and let the Prince of Peace reign in you.

I had been in verbally and mentally abusive marriage for many years, and as the abuse continued to escalate, I came to my church for help. They recommended Peacemaker mediation in which this book was required reading and the mediation focused on this book's principles. Through the counseling, my husband was empowered and began seriously threatening my life because of it. Matters became much worse for me with this counseling. If you are in an abusive situation, do NOT agree to go to any counseling with the Peacemaker book as it's focus. I fared much better at the local abuse crisis center. At least they took me seriously and offered protection. There is an accurate review of this book at the A Cry For Justice website by Jeff Crippen. Type Peacemaker in the search.

I can't say enough about this book. I haven't been in any major conflicts, but boy has it changed every part of my life. I relate to people so much better now. If you are a human being and you have any other contact with other humans - read this book! It is amazing how little attention we pay to relationships when we talk about the life of a Christian. The way that we interact with others is an essential part of the Christian walk, which makes Ken Sande's book amazing! It's really life-changing. I've seen God honored through these transformations in my life since the first day I picked up the book to read it. It's really that good. It's worth reading even if you don't like to read much. I read little by little because it's hard for me to read, but the applications this book has is incredible. Plus, it is DOUSED with Scripture.

I have only read two chapters of this book, but my relationships have been transformed already. I can see how Christ interacted with people and how I am so far from that. I deal with conflict horribly, but I can see how Ken's concepts can apply directly to my life. I don't know how anyone could try to develop healthy relationships without this book. It does NOT deny that conflict occurs, but encourages us to step into conflict with a healthy attitude. GREAT BOOK!

This book is an incredible resource and a must-read for every married couple, parent, or anyone struggling with conflict. In my own case - applying the principles learned through Peacemakers was the key ingredient to a complete reconciliation with my ex-wife. In fact, we were remarried after over years of separation and divorce. We give God all credit for the healing in our marriage, but we also recognize that Peacemakers provided the tools and knowledge for the two of us to reconcile. Thank you, Ken Sande, for the marvelous work you are doing.
