Overview

Pearl Harbor [Music from the Motion Picture]

Pearl Harbor is poised to follow in the tradition of the apocalyptic holiday-weekend blockbuster Armageddon, which was fueled by Aerosmith's heart-tugging ballad "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing." Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay hope to score once again at the box office and on the pop charts, this time with country star Faith Hill leading the charge with her power ballad "There You'll Be," penned by Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren. The remainder of the Hollywood epic's soundtrack comes courtesy of Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Gladiator). In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Japanese attack on U.S. soil, which precipitated America's entry into World War II, Zimmer's score conveys the sense of desperation felt by American military personnel and the terror of Hawaii's civilians. On "Tennessee," Zimmer's repeated use of a solitary piano is especially expressive, and the gentle piano and muted horns of "Brothers" gradually soars into the stirring song "...And Then I Kissed Him." The score climaxes with the dramatic "December 7th," which swoons with gorgeous string arrangements and assistance from a vocal choir. This triumphant soundtrack honors the heroism of both the Americans who lost their lives that fateful day and those who lived to tell the tragic tale of Pearl Harbor. Andrew Velez

The Movie Pearl Harbor i must say was excellent. I enjoyed it very much as it made me laugh, cry, and walk away thinking of how it could have been, living through the ordeal they had to cope with. The movie left me breathless, and captured my heart, soul and mind. This is a movie that will be forever remembered.

I loved the movie, I love this soundtrack, I am a little disappointed by how short it is! I think it should be at least an hour which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5! But great music for what there is.

I only watched Pearl Harbor in World History for the first time. I didn't get to see the end of it cuz I had to leave. So this weekend I"m going to a friends house and watching the whole thing this time. BUt what I did see was the best. I absolutely love the movie. And Josh Harnett is the hotter of him and Ben Affleck. But thats not really the point although it does make even more sad for what happens to Danny at the end. I feel so bad about it. I don't have the soundtrack to this movie yet but I'm going to get it. I love this cd.

After seeing Pearl Harbor, I was incredibly moved, and the spectacular music only enhances this phenomenal movie. Faith Hill's song ''There You'll Be'' is beautiful, and the classical pieces, such as Tennesse, make me cry. The listener can re-watch all the highlights of the movie in their minds eye. Whether or not you have seen Pearl Harbor, or even heard any of the tracks on this c.d., the music will completely sweep you away. Probably the best movie soundtrack I have ever come in contact with.

This soundtrack is so gorgeous it makes your heart melt, and the emotion just pours through you. You don't even have to like the movie to enjoy listening to the soundtrack. It is absolutly beautiful, and you will want to listen to it over and over again!

The movie was great and the sound track was an emphasis to all of the scenes....It was very emotional and well written, it completed the movie.

This is one of the best instrumental soundtracks out there. The decision to put the Faith Hill song on was a good choice. The music moves you even if you haven't seen the movie or if you didn't like it. I highly recommend it.

Hans Zimmer does an excelent job on this soundtrack. When you watch the movie it is as if you are listening to the same piece throughout the movie. This is a clear sign that Zimmer has a clear understanding that a classical album needs to have a reacuring theme. If you listen carefuly you can even hear the theme in Faith Hill's ''There You'll Be''. That is the main reason for the purchase of this album.

This sountrack is awesome. when i first saw the movie i thought it was so sad but after u listen to some of these songs u know the movie wasn't even half of it. the best would have 2 be faith hills song but u wont understand y until u see the movie!

Pearl Harbor was an excellent movie. It had quotes that make you laugh, and acting that makes you sob. This combination of qualities in a motion picture leaves a lasting impression in your heart. The musical score is just as spectacular, and I highly reccommend the soundtrack so you can remember the intimate details of this enchanting film.

...I think my head will burst. The main theme is OK, the Japanese theme is obnoxious, and the movie was obnoxious. The Faith Hill song is certainly listenable, but again, there is only so many times that we can hear that damnable theme! To comment on the many complaints about the briefness of the album - if it were any longer, I am utterly certain that my head would burst. It may be a 3-hour movie, but I've heard enough. Buy it if you must, but preferably download it to see if you like it. On a side note, I would like to post for the record that nearly all of the fans of this soundtrack are teenage girls with crushes on Josh Hartnett. Coincidence? I think not.

This was by far one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard (and all I listen to are soundtracks). Everytime I hear it I relive the movie in my mind. It makes me smile and cry at the same time knowing that the US was able to pull together after such a brutal attack!

this movie came out in 2001 and i have just seen it a few weeks ago. i is now one of my favorite movies. i ask a lot of people and mostly guys say they dont like it because of the actors (they're just jealous) and because it was stupid, but i didn't think it was stupid. i mean who cares if there's too much romance it adds character to the story. and so what if they don't show men with guts pouring out of them, they still showed enough to make someone sad and realize what happened on that day. i fell in love with the music right when i saw the movie and i've been meaning to get the soundtrack because the songs make me cry everytime i listen to them. i love this movie!

The songs on the Pearl Harbor soundtrack add so much to the movie. You can feel the saddness and the emotion of the movie and how people felt during the attacks through the mucic. It is a brillant soundtack, I highly reccomend it.

I first got this soundtrack because I loved the Faith Hill song ''There you'll Be''. After listening to the whole soundtrack I loved it. My other favorite song is ''Tennesee''. It's a beautiful song. I love the movie too! So please buy the soundtrack and (if you haven't) see the movie! You don't know what you're missing!
