This series led so dramatically to the final book! Then the reader is blind-sided by an author who took a fairy tale with superior potential to be the next #1 Best Seller and turned it into a Stephen King ending! I was crying and wanted to scream until I couldn't scream again. What a nightmare of an ending! I wish now that I had never picked up the first book - which was good. I read all three books in three days. The first two kept me up all night reading. I wish the third book had been lost in the Sea of Dust until the author realized what a lousy ending they had written and made it into the happily ever after we want as readers. This series, with the ending it has, should be placed into the 'Horror' section of the libraries and book stores. I am so angry, sad, and let down...

This series was an amazing ride, but the ending left me heartbroken. A sequel series would have been nice, but as of yet, there isn't one. :(

As always, you can't compare the ending of a series without discussig the other previous novels. The first two books were simply addictive and this last novel had that same quality. However, this time the ending wasn't as satisfactory. I wasn't expecting a perfect ending but i didn't think what happened was right either. In any case, I will ne reading this series again.

I stormed through this amazing trilogy (covers have changed) years ago in my teen years and loved it, the only reason there are 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didnt like the ending. Still great, im just a romantic. :)

I read the first two books years ago and loved them only to find the last book wasn't out. I reread the series and loved the first two as much as ever, but the last one was distressing. I was happy reading it until the last two chapters made my heart sank. I understand the responsibility and sacrifice themes of the books in a world of selfishness. But you know, there could've been another ending. Like maybe, the world now united after coming together to fight alongside each other, and now all the lands ruled by brothers, the issue of slavery in Terrain being resolved by the Sphynx, why not the other lands follow that example - couldn't the people of the world learned responsibility and worked together to heal the world instead of again having to rely on someone else to do things for them using magic from a selfish being now using the main character? The revelations at the ending seemed a little of out left field and almost like a punishment.

Amazing series of books written by a literary genius. A tragedy, full of romance, fantasy and angst. Pierce has created an entire universe with this trilogy.

I refuse to believe that this could be the last book. The ending was such a disappointment! There could be another book to give us an ending we all want. I hope that some day there will be but I know that's very unlikely. Overall its an amazing trilogy.
