I found this book highly entertaining, but the case studies are like no families I've known. Could I unwittingly be part of an elite? In particular, now that women outnumber men both as students at undergraduate institutions and as recipients of undergraduate degrees, I was fascinated by the attention given to "gender bias." I was also moderately amused by the author's apparent equation of private schooling with parental care and concern. --catwak
