The Penderwicks at Point Mouette (The Penderwicks Series #3) by Jeanne Birdsall

With over one million copies sold, this series of modern classics about the charming Penderwick family from National Book Award winner and New York Times bestseller Jeanne Birdsall is perfect for fans of Noel Streatfeild and Edward Eager.

When summer comes around, it's off to the beach for Rosalind . . . and off to Maine with Aunt Claire for the rest of the Penderwick girls, as well as their old friend, Jeffrey.

That leaves Skye as OAP (oldest available Penderwick)—a terrifying notion for all, but for Skye especially. Things look good as they settle into their cozy cottage, with a rocky shore, enthusiastic seagulls, a just-right corner store, and a charming next-door neighbor.  But can Skye hold it together long enough to figure out Rosalind's directions about not letting Batty explode?  Will Jane's Love Survey come to a tragic conclusion after she meets the alluring Dominic? Is Batty—contrary to all accepted wisdom—the only Penderwick capable of carrying a tune?  And will Jeffrey be able to keep peace between the girls . . . these girls who are his second, and most heartfelt, family?

It's a rollicking ride as the Penderwicks continue their unforgettable adventures in a story filled with laughs and joyful tears!

I truly hope Penderwick adventures don't end here. This truly has been the most exciting adventure yet. With hair cutting, spirit chants, twists, dogs, and a surprise with Jeffery: Jeanne Birdsall never misses a beat. She magically strings humor and romance to fit her latest book. OAP plays a big part of the Penderwick's third adventure. No Roslind. Skye becomes the new (and with improment) the new OAP!! Syke and her sisters head ot Maine for a vacation along with beloved Jeffery. But that sounds natural then Jeanne adds a little romance, heartbreak, and family into the mess the Penderwick sisters leave in Maine. This story will not keep you waiting. Once home Skye happily hands reins back to Roslind and the Penderwick vamily is back to Penderwick normal.

The Penderwicks is a GREAT series. The author uses a writing style that is the best I've ever read. The characters are realistic and able to realate to. (I'm Jane, through and through.) When the author is talking about Skye, I get excactly what she is feeling, even though I'm not much of a Skye. Temper, yes. Science and math, noooo. When Batty is in the limelight, there is perfect humour in the writing. When it's Jane, well, I can realate. When it's Rosalind, - who isn't really in this one, but the first and second.- I understand how SHE's feeling, even though I'm the youngest and always will be. Mercedes is a perfect addition to the third book, as she is a great character. I love how book three has the big BANG - all readers will know what I mean by this, right?- as that earns a book top marks, by my standards. I really hope there is a fourth Penderwicks! They are funny. well written, great characters, and overall wonderfull!

You can tell Jeanne biirdsall is leaving hints for her next book. Her fansight says she will write a total of 5 books. Janes sabrina star books will continue, skye and jeffrey may fall in love(by the looks of it in the book) and batty will be back to her adventours with hound. Good book.

I love this book! I've read both of the previous ones... all of them are terrific. I would definitely recommend them to a friend! The plot is great: not revealing too much in the beginning and letting the reader uncover the plot as the story goes on. Jeanne Birdsall did an awesome job!

The Penderwick family is being torn apart, sending Mr. Penderwick and his new wife Iantha to England, Rosalind to New Jersey, and the rest to Maine with Aunt Claire. Skye is left in charge as the OAP, a fact which has everyone concerned. Overall, a very enjoyable story of the love of family and the power of friendship.
