About the Author

Sgt. Mike Simmons is a second-generation police officer in Pensacola, Florida. A 30-year veteran police officer and Pensacola native, Mike has done extensive research on the history of Pensacola, but specifically on the police department. He has written several articles and a book on the subject. Mike and his wife Jerri live in Pensacola. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Mike also volunteers in a boy's mentoring program called Royal Rangers.

Mike has always been comical in our working together for many years at the Pensacola Police Department. the many photos within the book showed a lot of things I had never seen. There is something for everyone in his book and it is a must read.

If you love history you will love this book. I thought I knew a lot about the history of Pensacola but I was wrong. I also thought I knew a lot about the Pensacola PD history, but again I was wrong. The evolution of the profession has come a long way. The stories were great. I found myself laughing out loud at times and othe times shaking my head in disbelief. Great job!!! Great read!!!
