Life in a small, rural town is a lot different from what she's used to. Beaches are replaced with lazy, shaded rivers. Six lane highways with dirt roads. And Levi, the cute preacher's son, with intentions as pure as his smile, takes the place of a string of shallow, meaningless hookups back home. Some things remain the same no matter where you go, however. Like the way a cute boy can make things seem not so bad, or how when you fall in love-You. Just. Know.
It's too bad it's not only the good things that are universal. Bad things can follow you, no matter how far away from them you run. Secrets always end up hurting people. A troubled past will come back to haunt you. Michaela has both.

Losing a loved one can be especially hard. After Michaela Reilly’s step-father passes away, her mother packs up Michaela and her two younger siblings and moves from the city life they have grown up in to a small Georgia town located in the middle of no-where. Michaela has the chance to leave her horrible past behind her and start again. Small town life is far from what Michaela is used to. Everything is miles from most civilization and everyone is quick to judge the new-comers, everyone except for Levi Johnson, the preacher's son that is. Levi and Michaela's attraction towards each other is undeniable. As they begin spending time together and grow closer, Michaela realizes that Levi is unlike the other boys she is used to who only want to get into her pants. Levi shows true love and affection and doesn't let the rest of the town's stereotypical thoughts ruin his chance to truly get to know Michaela like no-one has before. When things begin to fall into place for Michaela, her haunted past starts catching up and one of the town's most popular girls, Lissa Whitmire, is set to destroy her. Will the secrets and people from Michaela's past ruin what she has worked so hard to leave behind? Or will she be able to overcome them and become the girl that Levi deserves? First, thank you Lindsey Ouimet for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for my honest review. "Perdition" was easy for me to relate to as I grew up in a smaller town where everyone knows everyone. When someone new moves to the area, everyone wants to know all about their past and who they are, which makes it easy for me to understand the struggles and adjustments that Michaela was going through. I loved the dynamics between the characters, especially Levi and Michaela. The way that Lindsey Ouimet portrayed their emotions was easy to understand and relate to. A very heart-warming story about how you can love someone despite the mistakes they have made and truly love a person for who they are. I would have liked the last two chapters to include a little more and add to the story. Perhaps there is a second book in the works which is why the author left them a little vague? I would have also liked to learn a little more about the tension between Lissa and Micheala. I feel as though there weren't enough details explaining the reason for their feuding. Overall, I really enjoyed reading "Perdition" and cannot wait to read more of Lindsey Ouimet's work!
