I really enjoyed this book. It hit home for me. Growing up there many Christmases without gifts under the tree. But we had all the things we needed and love, which is the best gift of all. This book is about a mother wanting to give her family a wonderful Christmas and her children teaching her that sometimes it isn' t expensive gifts that matter, but love and being together. Hard times will pass, gifts will break and be forgotten, but the time spent and love expended, will make long lasting wonderful memories to passed on through the generations. Perfect for readers ten and up. AD

What I loved most about this book, was the moral of the story itself. Material things are not what really count in life, at Christmas or during the rest of the year. Family, and spending good quality time together, is all that really matters. A homespun Christmas, I believe should be treasured. This story is certain to warm the heart.

Loved this sweet short story. We all get caught up each Christmas, and our thoughts get wrapped around trying to get everything done and the material aspect involved with the holidays. Her story captures what Christmas should be about.... love and family!

I loved the message behind this short story. Christmas is not about the material things but the love that is shared. The family in this story was going through some hard financial times. The mom did not have the money to buy the things she thought her children needed to have a good Christmas. I very much enjoyed how the family gathered together to make Christmas special. With the simplest and cheapest of items, the family was able to create ornaments that meant a lot to them. As they created these ornaments, the family was able to spend time together talking and sharing their love for another. It reminded me the meaning of Christmas.

Nice holiday story. A quick read about what the true spirit of Christmas is all about - being with family and friends and not all the gifts, commercialism and what's in it for me. The author also includes an old family cookie recipe at the end of the book. A great FREE deal from Barnes and Noble. This would be a great story to read to and be read by children.
