Every team wants third baseman Hudson Mitchel for his skill on the field. Every woman wants him for his bad-boy looks and money. Every fan wants his jersey. And Sport's World Magazine wants to label him their Sexiest Sports Idol. There's not a part of Hudson's life that doesn't feel toxic. Burnt out, he walks away from intense contract negotiations, dodges the paparazzi, and assumes an identity as a photo journalist in a tiny Vermont village. The last thing he expects to encounter in Black Moose, Vermont is a female who possesses all the qualities he's imagined in a life-partner. Unfortunately, she's the only woman on earth not impressed by his charms. Each time he goes to bat, she shuts him out. It's a good thing Hudson's never been afraid of a challenge.
Managing her family's golf course, planning her best friend's wedding, and fending off the takeover of the town's fall festival by a rich entrepreneur keeps Sileen Wright too busy to pursue her dreams. She's even too occupied with other's problems to notice the handsome guest in cabin twenty until she's literally pinned under the adonis inside her pickup. The recluse chips his way into her dreams and is stealing her heart- until his identity is revealed. Knowing a fling with the hunky sports idol would only lead to misery, she calls the game.
It's the bottom of the ninth, the bases are loaded, and the count is three and two. Will Hudson strike out with Sileen or hit the homerun of a lifetime?

Baseball star Hudson Mitchel is sick of paparazzi, sick of groupies, and sick of women throwing themselves at his feet. His playboy lifestyle has fueled a rash of bad publicity and his errors during the championship game is making matters worse. He needs to duck out of the limelight until things calm down. Dodging reporters, paparazzi, and ex-lovers, he shaves his trademark beard and checks into a golf resort near Black Moose, Vermont under an alias. The place is so remote his cabin doesn’t even have wi-fi. Which is just fine with him. Sileen Wright has time for everyone but herself. She fights red ink at her granddad’s aging golf resort and chairs the Black Moose Chamber of Commerce. She’s even thinking of running for mayor. But first things first—she needs to get the fairground’s transformer replaced before the Fall Festival. If the event’s cancelled, tourists and their dollars will land at the upscale resort outside town and the business owners of Black Moose will be in for a hard winter. What Sileen knows about baseball could fit in a thimble. She certainly has no idea the national superstar voted “Sexiest Sports Idol” is hiding out in one of her cabins. Sure, the guy’s handsome, but he’s a city boy through and through, useless when it comes to evading a mama bear. It only seems right for Hudson to strike up a friendship with the woman who saved his hide from an angry bear. Being liked for himself—instead of for his body and fame—is a long-forgotten experience. Hudson’s enjoying Black Moose and its down-to-earth residents. And he’s falling for Sileen. Could it ever work out between them? She doesn’t have a deceitful bone in her body and Hudson’s been lying to her since they moment they met. He hasn’t even told her his real name! Sileen’s life is firmly planted in Black Moose, while Hudson’s career keeps him in big cities and on the road. Maybe they’re destined to be two ships passing in the night. If you’re looking for a sweet story inhabited by characters so real you could swear you know them in real life, I highly recommend Perfect Fall. Autumn Jordon’s characters and setting come to life on the page. You’ll find yourself rooting for Hudson and Sileen, and maybe even plotting a little getaway to Black Moose for yourself. Can a famous playboy athlete and a family-oriented country girl turn their Perfect Fall into Happily Ever After? Spoiler alert: Yes!
Once I started reading, it was hard to put it down. (As I am sick at the moment, I really need my sleep.) Opposites sometimes do attract and in this case, absolutely perfect for each other. I loved all the characters in this book and loved the town too. I loved the surprises, I did not see coming throughout it. I highly recommend this book.
A warm and wonderful story. Could not put it doen
