What an excellent book! This is the third book in the Deep Haven series and each one has been excellent so far. Even though this is a series so far I have seen that you can read them in any order if you want. Susan does a great job of bringing characters from the other books in to tie the books together but the story isn't dependent upon knowing the whole story. Looking forward to starting book number 4!!

Another relaxing read with realistic situations and truth written in each line. Good one, Susan!

Ellie Karlson, the protagonist, faces an uphill battle as interim fire chief. Chauvinism is alive and well in this small town, and she has her hands full as the boss of a firehouse full of men. Written in omniscient voice, this novel is one that I happily read beginning to end. I like getting inside the heads of the characters to better understand their thinking.

The characters are well-rounded. Ellie never feels good enough and carries a chip on her shoulder. This creates a good bit of tension that equates to interesting reading. When people are hurting, Dan, the town preacher, is uncertain which words to use or Bible verses to quote. He's a loving pastor who wrestles with his inadequacies. How refreshing!

Minor characters, Joe and Mona, go through difficult times and face a tough decision.

There's drama in this novel. There's romance. There's mystery with a crime to solve. What more could a reader of Christian Fiction want? I give this one a thumbs UP!

The third book in the Deep Haven series introduces us to the gustiest heroine of the series. I really liked Ellie because she did everything she could to prove that she was good enough to be fire chief. It was cool to read about a female firefighter who can stand up to the tough guys. It was great seeing characters from the other books pop in and make appearances. I still really want to visit the bookstore and hang out there for a day. It was also good to finally read about Dan's story as he's popped up in the other books before. Volunteer firefighting just amazes me because people risk their lives and don't get paid for it! The part that I had trouble with was the constant resistance to the men's acceptance to Ellie as their chief. While I can understand that some men have problems with this, it just kept irking me that it doesn't matter how far women can go, we will always be looked at as inferior because of our gender. Thus my disappointment with the ending of the book. It just made me feel that Deep Haven is not the place to be if you are a women and want to be in a higher up position. I just don't like the chauvinistic attitudes of the men. I did enjoy the book though. I did like the story, the chemistry between Ellie and Dan is great. The mystery is played out very well. I learned a lot about firefighting too, they are incredible and extremely brave for what they do. I have extreme respect for them, it's definitely a job I could never perform myself. I wish there would be another book in the series. I feel that Liza needs her story told as well. Perhaps one day....

I thoroughly enjoyed The Perfect Match, Book 3 of the Deep Haven Series. Susan May Warren is an extremely gifted story teller, always keeping her readers in suspense to the end. Her eclectic cast of characters layers this fascinating story with diverse relationships and unexpected plot twists ¿ always a treat for voracious readers! Through main character Ellie Karlson, we take an adventure into the unique and dangerous world of firefighting, complicated all the more since Ellie is the new captain of Deep Haven¿s all-male volunteer fire station. Through Dan Matthews, we experience the life of a single pastor in a small town -- who also happens to be a firefighter. The stage is set for a troubled road for these two when the town is sabotaged by an unknown arsonist. The sparks that fly between them (pun apologies) make us wonder if they¿ll ever be able to break through the past and present obstacles to make this relationship work. Susan May Warren¿s books are guaranteed to entertain, thrill, and inspire. Without question, they fall in the Can¿t-Put-Down category! I¿d also like to commend Julie Chen¿s creative artwork on the covers for making all Susan¿s books jump off the bookshelf. Outstanding! This is a trilogy you¿ll want to own and share with all your friends. It¿s that good!

This third DEEP HAVEN series book by Susan May Warren kept me enticed to my seat all day and in bed all night! I could not figure out the solution to the 'crimes' until the very end of the book along with Ellie and by then so had she... Our independent heroine, Ellie, was spunky and a wonderful role model for all. Good enough for all ages to read! Loved it!

When I first read the description of this book I knew I had to read it. For me often the back cover decides if I will read a book. I was intrigued by Ellie and admire her passion and dedication. I also enjoy seeing a different side of her. Dan also is interesting in how her views women. The way Susan weaves this story kept me interested and wanting to know what next. Who is the arsonist and I admit I changed my mind several times, What will Ellie do next, What will Dan do next. These questions made me keep reading. I would recomend this book to anyone who enjoys strong charactors who don't always fit into the traditonal mold.
