Albert and Anne's story had good bones but, it was a sruggle to complete it. Not only was it repetitive and loaded with lectures, I could not get past the choppy, robotic-like conversations. Seriously? Who talks like that? Plus, I felt like there should have been a little more finality with the situation with Anne's father and that she never told Albert what her big gift was to him. I don't like giving bad reviews but, this was painful to read. I had to force myself to finish it in order to judge it fairly. 149 pages

An old fashion love story. I can almost imagine myself there with the characters. It would be a perfect for book clubs. I look forward to reading the sequel(s). And I love the cover!

But since I lasted till the end, and since it didn't have sex outside of marriage, I'll give it 3 stars; although I admit to skipping quite a bit the last 40 pages or so. In addition to stilted writing and forgetting the story lines (another of which was that the bad guy was going to show up again yet he never did) there were a few other minor inconsistencies. Example- people being in one place at the start of a dialogue and in a different place at the end without them even moving.

I was drawn into this series by the first page of this book. Albert Stuart, the strong, silent, oldest brother of the Stuart clan, is not happy about having to play host to Miss Anne Wallace, the fragile looking debutante raised in England and New York, until he sees her. Suddenly all bets are off, and Albert will allow no one else to escort Anne or introduce her to their way of life and the beauty of the Nevada territory they call their home. The attraction is mutual and they are thrilled when Anne's father decides to purchase land and take up residence in the territory. As Albert and Anne's relationship develops the one between Anne and her father deteriorates and Albert is forced to step in and investigate the reasons for her father's behavior. The results of his investigations are shocking and only bring up more unanswered questions. I love all of the characters we are introduced to in this book. You can tell the author has put her heart into them and you feel all of their emotions as you read the story. There are some editing issues but the author is concise and descriptive in her story telling and it flows very well. I'm glad I picked this book up and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series and watching the growth of this author.

A gifted copy was given in exchange for an honest review. (Indulgence Anthology) A sweet love story between Albert and Ann. I like the relationship between Albert's brothers and their father. It is very interesting to see how Albert changes after meeting Ann, how he totally forgets about his dreams, being his only dream her and having her as his wife from then on. Although there are some editing issues that need to be cared of, it's a good reading and very enjoyable.
