Worst epic fail of her scientific career? Falling for a cyborg she helped create.

Kyra Winters never meant for her cyber science discoveries to be used for evil, but that's exactly what happened. Now returning Peyton 313's humanity is the last chance she'll ever have to atone. She can't get back the lost decade, but she can change the present by restoring the cyborg who was once Marine Captain Peyton Elliot.

Certainly, her grand plan for rectifying her mistakes didn't include madly kissing the confused, passionate Marine when he begged her to. The same scientific mind that constructed the cyborg creator code now warned her not to let Peyton's tempting offers of heaven cloud her rational decision making. Yet it's difficult to resist the cyborg she's restoring when he's also the most intriguing man she's ever known.

About the Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined series

This is a science fiction and fantasy series that takes place in the not too distant future. These Cyborg romance heroes are genetically engineered military men who have been cybernetically imprisoned after a near apocalyptic global war. The heroine in Book 1 appears briefly in every book as one by one she and her team attempt to restore each soldier's humanity. Each book in the series deals with a different restored cyborg. Each story also contains lots of action and adventure, some violence and language, and hopefully a few laughs along the way.

This book is different then the typical books I get fron Donna, or any other author. It was more sci-fi like romance. I was hesitant at first, but when I read into the plot, I thought why not try something different for a change! I was never bored reading it, it kept my attention throughout. I wonder if this is the beginning of a series, as the ending left some things open for possible follow up books. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, and would recommend it!

I can't enthuse enough about Kyra and Peyton! Dr. Kyra Winters is the best romance heroine in ages! She is strong, brilliant and doesn't need to be dominated or saved by the hero. She is doing the saving all on her own and has the brainpower and willpower to back it up. I would like to see more heroines like her out there. The fact that her own brilliance got her the political/business power and financial backing that she has, proves that she is unique out there in the romance novel universe. I have not one change that I would make to her. A well-crafted heroine that should be cloned and used more often in the book universe. Peyton is a sexy, passionate hero who is damaged just enough by what was done to him by the Government. He doesn't fall down the hole that less well-crafted romantic heroes fall into by allowing his body and his protective instincts overcome his intelligence and overtake his heroine's freewill. His background in the military in well realized and properly displayed, unlike many novels, as he accepts other people's talents have to be used and will be valuable in his mission and for his goals. He treats the people with those talents as equals. The supporting characters are developed and interesting in their own way without going off the deep end, from interesting to completely distracting or to absolutely irritating. I love the world that McDonald has created. Many books that deal with a dark future world (it isn't quite a dystopia) don't take everything that would be involved in that world into account. McDonald deals with the social and financial and political changes into account while not placing them center to distract from the central story. The concept is in itself wonderful. I can't wait to see how it develops. It doesn't swamp story or character development but carries both along with steamy love scenes and great writing!

The story is good, cast of characters are excellent. The story grabs and holds your attention from beginning to end. Kyra, Peyton, his team: Kingston, Eric, Marcus, Vincent and Steve are all awesome. Kyra's friend, Nero. The characters come to life, their sense of humor and the jokes had me lol. Wonderful story, this author is definitely one of my fav. This book is a keeper. Enjoy! Happy Reading! (B&N or someone else decided to remove my first review not for spoiler content, but because I wrote about the comparison between cyborgs, AI. So, hopefully, this review is more acceptable.) HEA ending to a wonderful and to the thought that now the other characters will also have a story.) ******vrnb*******

This is a great read. The connection between Peyton and Doc was instant. Peyton is Hilarious the back and fourth banter was spot on. It sort if died in the middle but picked back up towards the end. Has drama, laughs and twists. Great read.

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin Stars Military cybernetics, scientist battling over humankind and modifications done without conscious awareness, the Earth has won the war but lost its humanity.  Peyton 313: Book One of Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined by Donna McDonald is well written and has a storyline that is out of this world!  It's filled with espionage, futuristic science and of course forbidden love. The Cybernetic Soldier Program was initiated when the government realized they were losing the war.  One of the two original creators, Dr. Kyra Winters is desperately researching a way to free the men and women that allowed their bodies to be altered for the betterment of their world.  When the United Coalition of Nations decreed the cyborgs were a menace to humans due to their robotic implants the soldiers were enrolled in the cyber-husbands or wives program and sold to the highest bidder.  Captain Peyton Elliot was among one of the soldiers that gave up his life for his country.  This is Peyton and Kyra's journey to their happily ever after. The new world developed by this author is intriguing and has a new spin on Cyborg romance that I haven't encountered.  The book will keep you involved and entertained.  The characters are strong and guide you through the story.  With each turn of the page the plot thickens and you are left wondering how the hero and heroine will be able to find happiness.  Their lives are in constant peril and you never know if the programs used to control the cyborgs have been demolished or are still active.  The new beginning both are striving for seems out of reach but the author shows her creativity and you are left amazed and longing for more!

I'm so glad that I read this book. A mix of science fiction, romance and mystery that I just couldn't put down. If you enjoy movies and anime like Ghost in the Shell, this is the series for you. I have fallen in love with Kyra, Peyton, Nero and all of Peyton's Marine team. It's a good thing that the next book is already out, because it will be my next purchase. I'm eager to see how the characters introduced in this book receive their own happily ever after.

As a fan of both Donna McDonald and sci-fi, I was thrilled to see she was writing another series! I promptly starting reading the moment I got the book and was not let down. One of the things I love the most about Donna's books is that the leading lady is usually a very strong independent woman. Dr. Kyra is just that! She has a conscience and the gall to follow it! In this book, the idea of just how far should science goes is explored. I adore her conviction in making things right for Peyton. I fell in love with Peyton and his reactions to her! I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

GREAT NEW CYBORG SERIES!!! I enjoyed reading this first book in the Cyborg series. It provided a new adventure and different direction in the type of genres I had been reading. I'm excited to see whose story will be told in the second book!!!

Kyra carries an immense amount of guilt on her shoulders over actions that, to be honest, weren't hers. She helped create the program that turned allowed men to become part-machine, but what happened after that wasn't her fault at all. Her desire to right the wrongs done to mankind because of her ex-husband's wrongdoings was admirable. The courage to actually go forward with her plans, incredible. Peyton's discovery that his wife was one of the two Cyber Soldier creators results in understandable anger, dislike, and distrust. But her truthfulness and openness about her purpose in buying him lessens all of that. With her help, he is able to gain more control of the humanity in him he'd been trying to reach on his own. That he fell in love with her, that he gave her a reason to love again, was an added bonus. He might be a Marine through and through, he might be part-machine, but what he felt for her was completely human. That was amazing. I'm really impressed by the depth of this story. I wasn't just dropped into a world where cyborgs are used, but I'm told how and why they were created. Info dump? I guess it could be considered that. Past sci-fi readings have taught me that info dumping is sometimes necessary in this genre because there is so much to the planet and/or time period of the story that has to be explained for the reader to fully understand what's going on. Ms. McDonald does that so well in this story. I loved Kyra's dedication to her cause and Peyton's willingness to help her any way he could. The discovery of a traitor in her camp, and who that traitor was, wasn't a surprise. The way she handled it though was. It pained me to see how she used her cyber science skills to prove a point to the men who once caused her harm, but I admired her grit and determination to drive that point home. She didn't back down, didn't chicken out, didn't soften her badass speech. She went for the jugular and came out the victor. This story has surprising humor in it, from the most unlikely source: Peyton. And it was awesome that he had that in him. It proved how much of suitable match he was for Kyra. I can't wait to read other books in this series. I hope the next book comes soon too. I want to know what happens to the other soldiers Kyra and Peyton saved at the end of this book, if they'll find their own happiness. God knows they deserve it and more. ***Received from Donna McDonald for an honest review***
