Philippina can fly! Sounds fun, but this special talent constantly lands Philippina in trouble with her parents and makes her an outcast with the other young elephants. About the Author
Alan C. Newell is an Irish/American mathematician. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1976, the John von Neumann Prize in 2004, and the Martin Kruskal Prize in 2012. He is a Regents Professor at the University of Arizona. He is also the author of the WWI tale "The Choice", the play "The Wake" and the children's book series "The Grand Adventures of Barney the Bear and his friends.
