About the Author

Rade B. Vukmir, MD, JD, FCCP, FACEP, FACHE, is president of Critical Care Medicine Associates, a medical service consulting enterprise. He is chief clinical officer for National Guardian Risk Retention Group and Emergency Consultants Inc. (ECI) Patient Safety Organization, as well as chairman of ECI Healthcare Partners Education and Risk Management Department. Board-certified in emergency medicine and critical care medicine, Dr. Vukmir is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also holds a degree in law, with a certificate in health law.

Dr. Vukmir is the author of 43 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, nine books, and numerous textbook chapters. He serves as scientific reviewer or editor for two dozen medical journals. Dr. Vukmir also serves as adjunct professor of Emergency Medicine for Temple University in Philadelphia. He has served on ACEP's Medical-Legal Public Relations committees as a councilor media spokesman and is on the ACEP Now editorial board.
