Picasso by Antony Mason

This series introduces young readers to the world's most celebrated painters and sculptors. Each title assesses the achievement of the artist, focusing on his most famous works. Preliminary sketches and material are discussed. Hands-on projects allow the reader to experiment with the artist's techniques (example above). Picasso traces the life of the artist from his childhood in southern Spain to his final years. Pictures specially commissioned for this book (example left) show where the artist lived and worked. The book discusses Picasso's achievements as a painter and sculptor, his relationships with other artists, and the enormous impact of his work on modern art.
