This is a new devotion book by one of my favorite authors, Randy Alcorn. This book contains short, one-page devotions, and there is a coloring page for each devotion in the book. This book has been encouraging to my daughter and to me. I'm not one who likes to color very much, but my daughter loves it, so I knew this book would be a good one for us to do together. We enjoy reading the devotion and then talking together while we color the corresponding picture for that day's reading. Heaven is a topic I have talked about often with my children over the years, especially when they were younger and first starting to grapple with the fact that they have a mom who is disabled and needs a lot of rest. Picturing Heaven is a great way to learn more about Heaven and start more conversations about life, disability, hope, Jesus, and the life to come. The devotions in Picturing Heaven will help you to set your mind on things above and encourage you to keep an eternal perspective in life. The book is filled with beautiful illustrations, and those who like to color will enjoy coloring the pictures as they reflect on what they have read. I was given a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Picturing Heaven is an amazing Devotional with full color-in pages that goes along with each devotion! I really enjoyed this book because it wasn't just another coloring book. Filled with 40 Devotions, each with a beautiful full-page work of art to fill in, you get to experience God's word in a new way and draw closer to him through these devotions and quiet time coloring in. Just dwelling on Him through this time. The artwork, illustrated by Lizzie Preston, is absolutely gorgeous! I've come across many adult coloring books and I would maybe only like a few pictures but in this book I loved every single one of them! This would make a great gift for family and friends who like to color and maybe even those who don't, this just might be what gets them started! I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars! I received this book for free from the publisher’s in exchange for this honest and unbiased review for Tyndale.

Author Randy Alcorn wants us to be excited, and to look forward to Heaven. These devotionals will make you think about things that may be new to you; such as the weather in Heaven, and enjoying activities we haven’t dared to try. With the help of a good table of contents, I enjoyed pondering these things. There are fun coloring pictures to go along with each devotion. Don’t think of it as a children’s coloring book. They are much more intricate than that. So get those colored pencils sharpened and spend some time thinking on Heaven! I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

It has been years, probably over a decade, since I've read Randy Alcorn's Heaven. The picture he paints of eternity is breathtakingly beautiful. Now readers who have either read the book and would like a refresher as well as those who have not had the opportunity to read it, are presented with Picturing Heaven: 40 Hope-filled Devotions with Coloring Pages. At 9.7-by-9.7 inches, this book is larger than a regular coloring book and includes a Bible verse and paragraph or two devotional opposite each coloring page. One of the best things about this book for me is that the coloring pages range in difficulty. It is hard for me to concentrate for long periods of time on those complexly designed coloring pages. Picturing Heaven offers some easier options along with the more detailed ones. And every one already gives you a head start with a little gold filled in already. This is an ideal gift for someone who enjoys quiet reflections or may be stuck at home--maybe recovering from an illness or such. Or you could give it to a coworker or friend as a gift with a pack of colored pencils. I'm sure there are many more ideas. What would you do with a copy of Picturing Heaven? The cover of this book is absolutely gorgoeus! So are the fonts and the formatting of the book. the only complaint I have is how the gold is printed on and is not actually foil.

Picturing Heaven contains 40 hope-filled devotions—each with an adjoining coloring page. Each devotion begins with a Scripture verse (or verses) and then, in a single paragraph, reveals something the Bible teaches us about Heaven. The corresponding page depicts an illustration that is suitable for coloring. I love devotionals and coloring books, and Picturing Heaven combines them into a single, jam-packed book, enabling me to worship intellectually and creatively. A lovely book. * The Scripture verses are taken from various versions of the Bible. 5 Stars! This coloring book is absolutely beautiful.  Each page to color is enhanced with gold either the back ground or parts of the picture.  The pages before the coloring page has a beautiful Bible verse that represents the picture.  I have had a lot of coloring books and use some of the pages framed and on my wall, but. I believe this one is the prettiest that I have seen.  It just took my breath when I opened it the first time as the cover is colored in these beautiful colors.  The author Randy Alcorn and his team did a marvelous job with this book.  As Christmas is coming up this would be a great gift if you have someone that loves to color.  Thanks so much to Tyndale Publishing for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.

** “As you ponder these pictures and participate in the art, you’ll more fully appreciate Christ’s promise — not of a ghostly existence, but of resurrected bodies and minds in a … universe ruled by Jesus.” ** Randy Alcorn once again returns to the topic of Heaven with his new devotional book “Picturing Heaven: 40 Hope-Filled Devotions with Coloring Pages.” His new coloring journal is also illustrated by Lizzie Preston. Her images, any of which are quite intricate, are filled with whimsy and beauty, and all are tinted with gold — I’m guessing to reflect the golden images of Heaven we all have. In his introduction, Alcorn explains the purpose of “Picturing Heaven” is meant to be a reflection of the time when God will not only resurrect our bodies but will also create a New Earth, where He will dwell with us. Through Alcorn’s brief devotionals and Preston’s inspirational drawings, we can attempt to imagine what that new world will be like. Meant to serve as both a creative expression and spiritual inspiration, “Picturing Heaving” allows us to nourish our faith through artistic creativity and biblical study. Each devotion contains one page of text — beginning with a verse or two followed by a paragraph of points to ponder — and one picture based on that particular theme to color. Some topics Alcorn covers include Experiencing the Best of Eden, Eternal Freedom from Sorrow, Spend Eternity Exploring Creation with Jesus, and No More Pain, Tears, or Death. He also tackles what some might consider controversial topics like Will We Reunite with Our Beloved Pets?, Maybe We’ll See Extinct Animals Come to Life, and Will We Travel to Galaxies Far, Far Away? “Picturing Heaven” is a delightful book that gives a brief, yet broad overview of Heaven and the New Earth God will create for His believers, stretching you to think beyond the terms you ever thought about Heaven and God. Anyone who enjoys studying Heaven and the end times, as well as those who are a fan of the adult coloring trend will love this book. Five stars out of five.
