Syndey! Sydney! Sydney! You deserve ten stars for this phenomenal story and for creating the engaging characters of Lia and Lucian. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but for almost 200 pages on my Nook I was totally involved in the storyline. Lia makes you want to cry and cheer at the same times. She is strong but vulnerable. Lucian is a hero who is torn between his past demons and what he hopes is a future with Lia. There is a real cliffhanger at the end. However, after going to the author's website and reading an excerpt of Fractured (the sequel) I am more than willing to wait (impatiently) for its publication. The excerpt is a tear jerker extraordinaire! Just as a aside...I live in Asheville, the city where the story takes place, and that is an added bonus of reading about numerous places throughout the community. Thanks Sydney for a great book to read on a rainy afternoon. Can't wait for Fractured!

I paid for a half of a book? I'm surprised by the ratings. Strange writing style and non-believable characters. Not happy to get a half book either and be told the rest will be avaiable in 6 months.

I gave it 1 star because I had trouble relating to the main character. The female lead was abused by her mother and stepfather. Then rejected by her first and only boyfriend. After all that she takes a job as an escort and meets up with strange men. Am I the only person that does not understand this line of work for her? The author tries to make it seem like the character is strong and driven by putting it in the thoughts of other characters. So how does she get over the stuff that has happened to her? Nevermind, there may have been a sentence dedicated to her counseling. This book is over 200 pages on my nook and ends with no ending. I feel like at this many pages there could have been a better ending to the book that wrapped things up but hinted at more to come. I hope the rest of the story pans out for those of you that continue to read. Good luck.

This novel has it all: passion, love, sex, friendship, drama, conflict, etc. Readers will enjoy the lengths the author takes to introduce the secondary characters. She really sets the plot and enriches the story with their inclusion and development. The only thing that drags down rating is the fact that she leaves the reader with the cliff hanger instead of combining them into one full length novel. Not everyone is a member of the tech generation with such a short attention span that they cannot finish a full length novel. It is frustrating to purchasing a book only to find out it is only the first few chapters of what would have been a full length novel. The only justified is getting some sort of voucher when one purchases all the "short" books in a series to put towards another purchase. No matter how one looks at it, the consumer gets "screwed".

Let me start by saying that I RARELY write reviews, and I did NOT receive a free ARC for this review. This is the real deal!!! For those of you who are fans of Sydney Landon’s books like I am, you have never read Sydney Landon like this with her latest release, Pierced. The HEA doesn’t come as easily as the Danvers’ series for Lucian and Lia, which makes this book/series downright ADDICTING! Lia is probably one of my favorite book heroines of all time. Her strength and determination to persevere over the abuse at the hands of her mother and stepfather, and even the rejection from her ex-boyfriend, were endearing and gut-wrenching to read at the same time. Lia’s “parents” were some of the most despicable characters ever written, and I wanted to reach through the pages to choke them. I loved how open she was with her story to Lucian, and hated that he couldn’t/wouldn’t discuss his past ghosts with her. If you read the book synopsis on Goodreads before you read the book like I did, you know Lucian’s haunted past. Had I not known what he went through, I don’t think I would have liked him as much as I did. His past and point of view in the book endeared him to me, which I NEEDED so that I wasn’t annoyed with him for the entire book. I almost think that Lia is too good for him with her inner strength. Every time Lucian dipped into his coke stash, I wanted to warn Lia that she can do better. In the end, they really need each other to heal…and this was what I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for…for the “aha” moment where they were able to heal and love each other. Then, we get the cliffhanger ending to end all cliffhanger endings, and now we have to wait until winter to see how it pans out. I’m in a book coma after reading this book, and can’t seem to get the story out of my head. I’m heartbroken for both characters, and will be waiting with bated breath for the sequel. Bravo Sydney!!!!! -Lisa M.

I just finished reading Pierced and absolutely loved it! The characters of Lucian and Lia are very well written. Their story kept me on the edge of my seat. The only thing that disappoints me is the fact that I have to wait a few months for more of their story. I'm sure it will be worth the wait! I look forward to reading more books by this author.

I am very unhappy to have read all the way to the end of this book. I was not familiar with this author, but plan to avoid in the future. I can read past the overly frequent use of the eff-bomb, and I can let go of the overemphasis on the sexual encounters of the characters, because it seemed as if it could be a good story. There were some decent elements, as the characters flash back to prior scenes that help to develop the story, but the storyline is not actually believable. The fears manifest in safe situations, and are absent when they ought to occur. Finally, the book does not end. I read all the way to the end, suffering through what was unpalatable, because I believed there should be some resolution. After all, this is supposed to be a book. However, it ends with what is intended to be a cliff-hanger, but just tells me not to waste my time on any more from this author...

I absolutely HATE when an author just stops a book right in the middle of a story. Other than that it was a decent story.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between luc and lia. I didn't like how quickly lia seems to give in to luc when he shuts her out considering how open she is with him. I usually don't mind cliffhangers as long as the story has some resolution this one did not. Despite my few complaints this was an intriguing story.

I just reading pierced . I am a fan of Sydney Landon she is one of my favorite authors. Lucian and lia story love story. I could not put it down . I felt for lia I though she was strong beautiful character, who had a hard childhood. Lucian takes the role of her protecter which I loved. Together ther love was a roller coaster of emotions. I can't wait for book 2

You will get sucked into this story. It is good. Then at a cliffhanging spot the story will continue in another book. Boo. Not happy with that.

Just finish the story. Cliff hangers are desperate moves to try to force people to buy more books. I will be sure to avoid this "author" in the future.

This is a poorly disguised take off of the Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day. Please find something more orginal.

I paid for a whole book. She stops right in the middle of the story and wants you to spend more money to finish the book. I will certainly never buy from this author again.

This was my introduction to Ms. Landon and I plan to check-out her other series. I liked Lucian and Lia but they were so broken from their past, it was a sad read. I will read the next one hoping for happier days for these two.

This is the most horrible story I have ever read . Nothing but vulgarity, violence and unnecessary sex. Had I known about how horrible it was I would have not gotten even if it was free . It's not even worth a star but I had to choose a star before I could post this review .

Started off promising then quickly went downhill. I couldnt make it past page 47. I cant stand stupid, whorish heroines with no backbone!!

It's an OK read. There's potential IMO but it doesn't quite do it for me. The book moves quite slowly for me. I'm probably going to read book 2, though, because I don't like not knowing how a trilogy ends.

THis is a great book and I wish I could have bought the Nook version but I had to settle for the Kindle version since it is not available here. This was one book that was hard to put down.  Can't wait for the next one to come out!
