Overview

Pirate Radio [Motion Picture Soundtrack]

Pirate Radio is the newest ensemble comedy from filmmaker Richard Curtis (screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, and writer/director of Love Actually), spinning the irreverent yet fact-based comedic tale of a seafaring band of rogue rock and roll deejays whose “pirate radio” captivated and inspired 1960s Britain. Playing the music that rocked a nation and a decade, the group boldly and hilariously defies the government that tried to shut them down. From the Label

Almost all of the music that is heard in Pirate Radio is included in the soundtrack. The Rolling Stones songs included in the film are missing, though.

Good music and memories - WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY.

This soundtrack is a must for anyone who lived through the 60's and is a good music history lesson for those who didn't. These songs exemplify the wide diversity of the music written and performed during the early period of what can only be said to be the greatest explosion of individual expression ever witnessed in modern culture.

For those between about 55 and 65 years of age this is a true nostalgic walk down memory lane. This is a great collection of super dance tunes of that mid sixties era that transitioned us from good ol' rock n roll to the psychodelic era. This was a period of great music, referred to as the "British Invasion" that often gets stepped over as folks go from Chuck Berry to Woodstock. I loved this album (and the movie) becuase it focused right on that era. My only regret is that it wasn't a 3 CD set with more "British Invasion" hits. Particularly with today's surround sound and sub-woofers, you should crank your volume to "11", put on your Carnaby Street togs and start "Dancing in the Streets"!
