Children's Literature - Kimberlin A. Hurson
Book #11 of the "Boxcar Children Graphic Novels" series is sure to keep the reader in suspense. Why is the Lady in the Red Hat coming to lunch at Piccolo's Pizza every day? What is keeping the gas company from coming to fix the broken line to the pizza oven? Why does a very demanding health inspector make a surprise inspection of the pizzeria? The Aldens tackle these questions and more, bringing back to life a fledgling restaurant and discovering the source of all of this trouble. The original Pizza Mystery, published in 1993, 14 years after Gertrude Chandler Warner's death, is brought back to life for 21st century children, and for those of us who love "The Boxcar Children." Meet the Author

Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she taught school and wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by the book's success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden children.

The characters are Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny. They go on a vacation and stop for some gas. They get frightened by this big man. They are on their way again and stop to check on an old friend. Their friend owns a haunted pizza place. All kinds of things are happening like he can¿t keep employees there. So they stay to help him. I like the story because it is suspenseful. The main characters are kids and their grandfather. The story is a mystery. I also like the story because my parents own a pizza shop.
