This book was really very good. I read it a long time ago back when I was really into playing the card game, and I feel comfortable saying it was the best MTG book I read. The characters are so hardcore! The fight scenes really made this book for me. The writing was very engaging to the imagination (liberal use of vivid imagery) and made for thoroughly enjoyable reading. As book two in the Invasion trilogy, Planeshift is the installment that takes on the darkest tones and lends the badguys the most power (which I absolutely relish in a book), and the battles are epic. Urza Planeswalker, Gerrard Capashen and the Weatherlight crew, and the rest of the gang really step up to the plate and rock the house in this book. There are two Metathran generals in this trilogy who remain among my all-time favorite characters. You'll just have to read it to find out why. One tip: go ahead and buy Apocalypse (book 3) also when you purchase Planeshift, because the very last line in the book WILL make you want more, so just save yourself the trip to the bookstore and buy both at once.

Ya'lls don't know what you're talking about. Nothing from King is as bad as you tend to make it out to be. It's not the best, for sure, I particularly liked Onslaught, but it's something you need if you're going to understand everything else.

I made a review for the first book of this block, Invasion. This book is the same. In a nutshell: mindless action, lack of development. Disappointed. But all for the conclusion.

I really liked this book alot. The author, J. Robert King manages to mix action with emotion, yet not make it too sappy or girlish. This book could be simply picked up by a non-magic fan and would be enjoyed... One more thing... It is a really good idea to read "The Thran" and "Invasion" first. They give you an Idea of what's happening.

This book was probably one on the best written in all of the Magic: The Gathering Series...this book has everything you can think of...from love to hatred, alliances to betrayal...and the ending...as the headline states...WOW...an awesome book that literally MAKES you buy Book III...Highly recommended...

this is a great book. you have no idea about most of the aspects of the book, and the end is absolutely shocking. what ever you think you know about this book, think again. the ending is epic, and it makes you wonder what will happen in the next (and presumably last) book.
