I used to read lots of Sandra Brown's books, but felt they became a bit repetitive in their story line. I purchased this book and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the 'less than perfect' character (Griff) and the overall plot. The author kept reeling me in for another twist, right when I thought I had it all figured out. I will put her books back on my "Must Read" list.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. She didn't go with the usual formula and it was different. The ending was fabulous and surprising.

This was a different from ordianary book. It was exciting to see that someone who made a mistake was willing to get his life turned around for the better in doing what was necessay in a logical manner with little or no violence and attaining his goal. it was very hard to sit down since every move you had to knw the outcome.

This was an excellent example of superb writing. The plots twists kept coming, the relationships were real and the action was nonstop. The main character Griff was flawed but trying to do better. The other characters all played their roles very well. The book was well-edited. Overall, a wonderful addition to my library!

Loved the main character, Griff Burkett. He finds himself down and out after spending time in jail for being less than honest. After release he has no money and no place to go. He finds himself in a crazy secret lucrative job offered by a airline millionaire and his wife.
Griff, a Dallas Cowboys superstar, is convicted of throwing a game for the mob. When he appears out of prison, all his previous loyal fans hate him and he has to cope from having been loved to now being hated.
Griff's character finds himself in a high stake game, redemption by his foster parents, love, and playing the last perfect play of his life.
I wanted to read the book as quickly as possible and lost some sleep.

I actually read this on a snowy weekend, nevertheless it was a good read. I didn't feel the same anticipation or thrill but she did step outside the box with memory sequences. It kept you wondering what happened on 'that night'. Because of not knowing what happened I don't think I developed an attachment to the characters and their relationship. I always enjoy Sandra Brown's books and I appreciated the ending but this wasn't one of my favorites.

It created mystery and tension as the plot thickened and continued to change

This is a very good book by an arthor I haven't read in a couple of years. I now realize that I missed her! If you like books with sub plots and never knowing what's around the corner you will love this one.

I hadn't read Sandra Brown for years and was pleasantly surprised although thought it was rather odd that she would use the Dallas Cowboys as part of her plot.  Casting aspersions on a real team sometimes isn't the best!  But overall, it was a good book and started me reading her again.

Again author Sandra Brown has delivered on a suspense thriller of a fallen hero, infidelty and crooked cop. The story has strong surprise twists completely unique to the author s style. Definitely a novel you can t put down til the end.

I read the reviews and then I buy and make up my mind. This book was one that I wish I had not bought. I have read books by this author that I liked, but not this one. I did not like the characters. This author can do better.

I know books are for pure enjoyment.. I just think this one of Brown's was very Boring.. I never found myself excited to open it back up, truly I felt like I just wanted to finish it so I could get on to a good book.. My first Brown book was ENVY, it was excellent.. PLAY DIRTY is very boring & predictable..

Sandra has been my favorite author for yrs, but this book was just not her. It was rushed and somewhat confusing to stick with. She seemed bored with writing this book. My own opinions only

I've been a Brown fan for years, but this one just doesn't measure up. The plot was too crazy to find remotely believable and none of the characters were particularly likable. The romance is lacking and the only sex scene comes at the very end in an awkward flashback. Note about the Nook Format--it was especially poor. There were no dividers when the scene of the action would change mid-chapter, which made several parts difficult to follow. Also, the epilogue was missing from the Nook copy that I downloaded. I thought the book had ended abruptly without any resolution between the main lovers, but a whole set of pages was missing.

The title says it all. A good book. Not what you would expect in a murder mystery. Characters are interesting to say the least. Ending is expected but still fun to read.

I usually like Sandra Brown books but I could not wait for this one to end. Griff was an unlikable hero with minimal redeeming qualities. Author tried to make him more likable at end by throwing in an excuse for his jail time but it just seemed crazy. Did not like Laura too much either. Convoluted explanation for what she agreed to do and magically the characters fall deeply in love very quickly. I guess Brown did a good job with villain because he was truly repugnant. I was so eager for book to end that I started skimming pages instead of reading them in the last quarter of the book.

I've been a fan of Brown for several years but this is terrible. Weak story line, unbelieveable characters, and a poor ending!! Oh, for the good old days, like Standoff & Witness. Sandra has lost it!

This book starts with Griff Burkett being released from prison after being caught cheating - not a good thing for the Dallas Cowboys QB. With no prospects, he is surprised to be invited over to the home of Foster and Laura Speakman, the owners of SunSouth Airlines. It turns out that they have everything money can buy, but it can't buy a pregnancy. So they ask Griff for secrecy, in a very unusual situation. Soon it is clear there are other forces at work, that includes a murder, a call girl being beaten, and him being attacked, all while being hunted by his former nemesis Stanley Rodarte. I enjoyed this book, the ending was a bit....blah, but the rest was good.

Great storyline. Believable, relatable characters. Nice twists. This was my first Sandra Brown book and I can see why she is such a great selling author. Also, unlike many other e-books I've read, the electronic version of this book is also extremely well edited. Highly recommend.
