Chapter One
A lonely playground with no one to play, Would the children come and stay? A visit by one with a friend each day, Becomes a pair of two to share and to play. On
Sunday no one enjoyed any play time,
O to run, skip, jump, or climb. On Monday to the playground two had found their way,
Up and down on the swings 2 played together all day.
On Tuesday on the seesaw they were joined by two more,
And now the playground had a total of 4.
On Wednesday the children shared jungle gym tricks,
Two more joined the mix and now there were 6.
On Thursday they played hopscotch until late,
Two more hopped into the game and now there were 8.
On Friday the children took turns down the slide,
Two more came along and now there were 10 for the ride.
On Saturday two more spun on the carousel around,
Now 12 all together were circling the ground.
Each day of the week they came in a pair of two,
From 0 to 12 by two more the playground grew.
First there was 0, then 2, and then 4,
6, 8, 10, 12, will next week bring more?
We'll just have to wait until next week to see,
Will the pairs of two become groups of three?
