But then her father dies, leaving Amber and the rest of gossip hungry L.A. wondering what celebrity secrets her father kept. All Amber has to do to ensure her secrets are safe, earn her inheritance and return to her normal, paparazzi-free life is improve the mental game of the biggest bad-ass in the NBA, Evan Oliver. Too bad Amber knows nothing about basketball or life coaching. Too bad Evan Oliver is determined to do things his own way, especially when it comes to teaching Amber a new set of rules.

About the Author

Although Melinda has lived in Georgia and Texas, she's a California girl at heart. Her earliest memories are of life on an isolated 50-acre sheep ranch in rural Sonoma County, California. Picture rolling hills covered in brown grass, a eucalyptus forest, a long gravel driveway lined with plump sheep and no sidewalks. It was a big deal to drive into town on a one-lane road in a ramshackle, bubble-fendered pickup for an ice cream. Flash forward to this century. Melinda lives in California's hot central valley with her husband - her basketball playing college sweetheart. With three kids the couple has done the soccer thing, the karate thing, the dance thing, the Little League thing and, of course, the basketball thing. Melinda writes red hot reads as Mel Curtis. She loves writing romances about women who don't realize how strong they are until a hero comes along to show them, while capturing the wry humorous power struggle of falling in love - because, really, who lets the man have the last word?

40 chapters of Hollywood paparazzi, sex, breasts, tantric yoga, gossip, anger, angst, self doubt, worthless self-image, and ego help hype. Finished the story even with the repetitive self-loathing theme.

I totally loved this story. Right from the start this story grabbed my attention. I loved all the characters in this story and cannot wait to find out what happens to them in later books. I was afraid this book would be all about basketball and nothing else since Evan is a basketball player but it was beautifully written within the story. I found myself cheering him on in games especially the last one. And I loved Ren. Amber is an amazing character as well. To overcome all her issues from the past and present and still be fierce, fun, and sexy is amazing.

Mel Curtis is a new to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. After the reading of her father's will, Amber Rule is tasked with saving his business if she wants to receive any of her inheritance. Having been estranged from her father for many years, she gets to work trying to figure out hos his business was run. It's a mystery to solve and a project to get thru so she can get back to her life. But, life laughs and adventures abound as she tries to make it all work. A great read
