This book is only 182 pages and I think very overpriced for the content. The story is good, but I would not have bought if I knew just how short the book was.

4.5 Stars - For beautiful erotica author Dylan Ivory being in control is everything. Growing up in a seriously dysfunctional home, she’s lived her adult life in perfect order, leaving nothing to chance. While in the research stage for her next novel about a couple exploring BDSM—the power exchange, some bondage—which she’s written about before, Dylan decides she wants to delve deeper, explore edge play. She wants to understand what the dynamic and psychology are about, and find a deeper explanation of subspace—the trancelike state many submissives reach during BDSM play. The chemistry makes perfect sense—how endorphins are released in the body in response to pain or sexual stimulation. But the psychology isn’t so clear—the mental and emotional part of the process. Understanding she’s out of her league and doesn’t knows enough to write that sort of intense power play accurately just by reading a few books, Dylan comes to realize if her story is to have authenticity she’ll need to talk to someone involved in those things. Alec Walker is an author of dark psychological thrillers. And a man who lives for thrills—riding motorcycles, rock climbing, snowboarding, skydiving, swimming with sharks ... anything that gives him an adrenaline rush. Famous for his talents and knowledge as a sexual dominant in the Seattle BDSM scene, he agrees to be interviewed by Dylan, but is convinced there’s no way she can accurately portray the complexities of the lifestyle without experiencing it. There are too many overlapping components—physical, psychological and emotional. BDSM is about sensation and what goes on in your head. It can be sensual, or sexual, or both. So Alec proposes that she give it a try—bottom for him and see how she responds. Either way she’ll have learned something about herself and have some very personal and unique research for her book. Alec is everything Dylan is not … and everything she wants. She longs to taste the temptation he offers, but refuses to surrender control. Slowly and seductively, though, Alec shows her that by letting go and submitting to his every desire she can experience the ultimate pleasure. But will either take the ultimate risk and surrender their heart? Pleasure’s Edge is a well-written, character driven erotic romance. The story was realistic, straightforward, and flowed well. The characters were complex and easy to relate to. Dylan is self-reliant—she’s had to be. She’s always relied on her mind—her problem-solving abilities—to get her through life. She doesn’t like feeling weak or helpless, and since meeting Alec has never felt so out of control in her life. Alec has always believed in the randomness of the universe. He isn’t a relationship type of guy. But Dylan isn’t just another woman. I found myself pleasantly surprised by this book, as my taste tends more toward stories with a suspenseful subplot. Pleasure’s Edge is a sexy, sensual, and emotional read of desire, fear, self-discovery, and love with a satisfying HEA. It contains light BDSM and edge play—pain play.

I have never written a review before, but knew I had to when I finished this book. This is one of the best books I have ever read. I was introduced to this genre after having read The 50 Shades Trilogy. This book was written with such style and emotion, the character development was perfect and the story moved along, never being boring or rediculous.  Alec and Dylan move through their relationship each learning a lot along the way.  This is a great read! Don't pass it up. Enjoy.

I loved the book but i thought it ended to soon. I wanted to read more about Alec's past and how they developed a deeper relationship. Wished there was a part two.

Holy basket of vibrators, Batman! Eve Berlin's Pleasure's Edge is some Seriously Sizzling Sex, but it's also a beautiful romance. Dylan's an erotica writer, challenged to research the world of D/s (Domination and submission) for her next book. She meets Alec, a vibrant, powerful Dom, who thinks it's more effective to show rather than tell. Dylan has been firmly in control for years, having grown up with a bi-polar mother who was frequently incapacitated by her illness, and having taken responsibility for her younger brother. Alec is a world traveler and thrill seeker. He's modeled himself after his brilliant but emotionally reserved father, and Alec enjoys sex, and being a 'top.' But no woman has ever gotten under his skin, the way Dylan has. I loved this book. Loved loved loved. It is so hot, from beginning to end, that I was seriously contemplating putting on my Ove-Gloves to turn the pages. I loved the romantic and erotic connection between Dylan and Alec. I loved the way Berlin took us deep within the psyches of the characters, exploring how the D/s game opened them up emotionally. I loved the skillful and unquestioning use of condoms every time. Loved that they fell in love, despite the barriers they both had erected against such a thing. My only quibbles, and they're more with me than the book, is the names. Alec I kept wanting to change in my head to the softer, (IMO) sexier Alex. Dylan - I don't know any female Dylans, but I do know a few, very attractive young men named Dylan, or Dillon. This made me mentally stumble a bit. I would advise writers to think twice about that kind of choice. My name can be used for men or women, in theory, but if a character was named Beverly, wouldn't you think 99 times out of 100 he was female? My other quibble is that both characters were much into 'sensation play' with an emphasis on spanking. I personally find spanking more of a turn-off than erotic; but the scenes were so hot I got past it. I will definitely be increasing my library of Eve Berlin books, and highly recommend this book. [Suddenly, I'm quite thirsty.]

If you've never read a BDSM book before and you want to, then this is the book for you. It is almost a tutorial of the BDSM scene but also a romance story as well. You won't be cringing and holding your breath in pain while reading this, like I have in the past. This book is a very enjoyable read and you won't be able to put it down. For me, there's nothing more sensual than a man softly caressing a woman's body. And boy oh boy does Alec know what he's doing! I was exceptionally surprised by this book. I'm not one to read BDSM novels, in fact, I very rarely do. The cover of this book caught my attention though and I was curious to find out more....and I'm so glad I did! Isn't the cover of this book very rousing to look at? It may sound crazy when I say this, but you can feel the chemistry and sensuality flowing from the cover. I'm so glad I bought it in paperback! I actually found out a friend had read and enjoyed this book very much. She highly recommended it to me saying that it's not like all the other BDSM novels and to give it a try. And she was 110% right. This is definitely in a league of it's own and nothing like the others in this genre. I'm very hesitant when it comes to BDSM reads simply because I don't really understand it all. The whole idea of being beaten into orgasm isn't all that enticing to me, or the whole roughness that is associated with it, but honestly, this author makes you almost want to....almost. What's so great about this book is that explains the lifestyle of BDSM. It's not really a lifestyle though, it's more of a sexuality choice and there is nothing wrong with this kind of love making. Although it's not for me, I did find it to be very intriguing and could not stop reading it. ***SPOILER*** Dylan, an erotic romance author, is looking for help with her next book. She is not very familiar with the BDSM scene and is told about a known Dom in the area that can help her named Alec. As she's questioning him for her book, Alec makes her an offer. He tells her the only way to truly understand it all is to experience it. Alec wants her to submit to him. Dylan, being open about her sexuality, accepts but only if she can dominate Alec, insisting that she is a dom and not a submissive. After challenging each other, Dylan and Alec come to an agreement. If Dylan can not prove to be submissive, then she can dominate Alec. Little does Dylan know, after being with Alec once, her life will change irrevocably. She will find herself freed in more ways than one. ***SPOILER ENDS*** I think this book is probably very sentimental to the author. There were a few times while reading this that I thought Dylan was actually Eve/Eden, but obviously written and changed into a fictional story. I could be wrong, but it's just a feeling I had. There were some striking similarities throughout the entire story with Dylan and Eve/Eden. I enjoyed this book very much and the authors writing style. I will be getting the next book, Desire's Edge very soon and more books by her as well.
