About the Author

Feng Feng Hutchins was born in Malaysia and the best part of her birthdays was watching her mother make long life noodle soup for her. She brought those fond memories with her when she came to America and now, while cooking noodles for her own children here in Hawaii, she adds fresh ingredients from the island to make up this delicious saimin. This is her first childrens picture book.

Adriano F. Abatayo III was born and raised in Nanakuli, Hawaii. He began to show his artistic talents at the ripe age of 5 drawing animals and people. As an adult freelance artist, he has received much praise for his work from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, and President Bill Clinton. Though he now calls California home, Hawaii will always remain a special part of his life.

The authors voice makes for a wonderful addition this muti cultural story that is the very make up of Hawaii's plantation days. Good story for grandparents to read to their grand kids. The illustrations draw the reader into Ah Kees world beautifully!
