About the Author

Makini Howell has been passionate about creating a chic dining experience that appeals to vegans, foodies, and omnivores alike since her days of living in New York City working as a men's denim designer. In 2005 she moved back home to Seattle with the goals of redirecting her family's restaurant business and creating a new perception of veganism. I really enjoy cooking with the Plum Cookbook. I live on the east coast and had never heard of the restaurant before grabbing this book off the shelf so I had little expectations. I find the recipes to be creative, fun, and easy to follow along. I can't wait to get to Seattle to try Makini's cooking.

I waited MONTHS for this cookbook; Plum is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle, but it is one of the best. I just couldn't wait till I'd get to cook these recipes at home. Then, she didn't include the ONE recipe that I (and I'll assume most others) were buying this book for. She doesn't really care for what her customers and fans want. This book and the restaurant are not worth your time.
