Pocketful of Sand by M. Leighton, Roger Wayne, Monique Makena

"She's beauty for my ashes. And I'm hope for her heartache." -Cole Danzer.

I don't know what makes a great love story. Is it that instant attraction when boy meets girl? The passionate kisses and the fairy-tale ending? Or is it a lifetime of tragedy, paid in advance, for a few stolen moments of pure bliss? The pain and the suffering that, in the end, you can say are worth it for having found the missing piece of your soul?

The answer is: I don't know. I don't know what makes a great love story. I only know what makes my love story. I only know that finding Cole when I did, when Emmy and I were running from a nightmare, was the only thing that saved me. That saved us. He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other's shattered pieces and made a whole. If that is what makes a great love story, if that is what makes an epic romance, then mine . . . ours is the greatest of them all.

I was hooked from the very beginning. I was so absorbed into this book, lost track of time and finished it in 6hrs. My heart ached for Emmy so much and her words to her mother but most of all bled for Cole and all his scars. I was thrown for the ending and read both choices. I loved choice of e the most, but was a little confused with choice two. Please write the next one so a lot of my unanswered questions Wil be put to rest. This story is so real and messed up emotional ally but you CAN'T PUT IT DOWN! I love all your books but this one was a switch have and truly puts you in the story with all the characters. After finishing this story you sit back and really assess your life and thank your lucky stars that your life isn't messed up like their lives were, I'm thankful for my healthy and loving family. Please hurry with #2.. even though I prefer number 1 essential ending, I'll still read #2!!!! The endings will tug at your heart and your soul!

Another amazing story from M. Leighton!! Pocketful of Sand is an emotional story of loss, heartache, and grief, but it's also one of hope, redemption, and love. It is a captivating story of two broken people who help each other heal and learn to love again. "We are two broken people, finding strength in each other's remaining pieces...Maybe, just maybe, it's enough to make a whole. Our pieces. Together." Eden Taylor is running from a tragic past that still haunts her. Together with her daughter, Emmy, they move to Miller's Pond, Maine in an effort to find stability and a safe place to call home. Eden isn't looking for a man. She has never known love, only the love for her daughter. She knows that Emmy needs her. On their first day in town, they meet Cole Danzer. Eden is instantly drawn to him. He's handsome and well built, but there was more than that. Maybe she recognizes the pain and loss in his eyes. Cole has a heart-breaking past and feels undeserving. That he is to remain unhappy, as a penance over what happened. He is broken, a tortured soul who has closed himself off to the world. But their attraction is undeniable. And as they spend more time together, unfamiliar and forgotten feelings are elicited along with the hope that there could be more. To say that I LOVE this story is an understatement. I was hooked from the first page 'til the last. It evoked so many different emotions. I fell in love with these characters. I laughed with them, I cried with them, I broke and healed with them. And the ending was pure brilliance! While I'm happy for their HEA, it left me curious and wanting more. You'll have to read it to understand. I highly recommend this book

HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL... AND ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! This is honestly one of the best books I have ever read. It's been weeks since I read it and I have read several books since, but, it is still on my mind~ embedded in my heart... in my soul. A Pocketful of Sand truly stunned me! It was everything you could want in a book. I laughed and cried, I screamed in fear and squealed with joy. I panicked, I rejoiced and I loved....God, how I loved! M. Leighton has rocked my world!  Eden and Cole have both been through so much. More than any person should ever have to endure. They are both broken in their own ways. But when they meet they are instantly drawn to one another. There's this inexplicable pull between them. Intense passion and severe attraction that neither can resist, but that doesn't mean they won't try. Can they mend one another and somehow become whole enough to love?  Can they heal the gaping wounds on each other's hearts?  Or will they be destined to live in the misery of their pasts, haunted at every turn? Michelle Leighton literally took my breath away with this book. It's beautifully written and so powerful... it'll leave an impression on your soul!  You will be craving more!  What an amazing read!

WOW! This is quite the story...heartbreak, loss, redemption and second chances and most of all HEA! This isn't a book you just read...this is a book you feel! It was just amazing! "She the beauty for my ashes. And I'm the hope for her heartache." I will never look at sand the same way. A touching story that both makes your heart ache and warms your heart at the same time. A favorite of 2015! The double ending is also a new twist...

I loved Cole and Edens story and however it ends for the reader? One thing is for sure. We need another book(s). Possibly two series stemming from one book??? Hint hint M. Leighton!

I am a huge M. Leighton fan, devouring everything she writes, and once again, she delivers an awesome story in Pocketful of Sand.  The story will grip you from beginning to end, causing you to experience emotions from one end of the scale to the other right along with the characters.  I loved Cole Danzer.  He's been through so much, and it has humbled him, almost broken him, causing him to feel that he doesn't deserve happiness or love.  All that changes when two special girls come into his life Eden and her little daughter Emmy.  Eden and Emmy's life has been anything but easy, and the heartache and trauma they've endured has left them both damaged and afraid.  Eden will do anything to protect Emmy, including swearing of men, but when Cole Danzer enters the picture, everything begins to change.   Pocketful of Sand is their story.  It is a story of heartache, brokenness, love, forgiveness, and healing.  The title of the book has so much meaning, and when you read the story, you'll be touched and appreciate it.  While there is heartache, and pain there is also joy and healing.  Pocketful of Sand is beautifully written and delivers M. Leighton's trademark hot romance, while providing with a suspenseful story that deals with some very difficult issues.  This is one book you will definitely want to add to your TBR list.

Awesomely Fantastic!!! Eden and Emmy are running from their past. They have been on the move for two years. Maybe this time they can stay in Miller's Pond. They meet Jordan, a friendly lady a few years older than Eden. Jason, who is Jordan's brother and wants to get to know Eden better. And then there is Cole. A man who is broken because of his past. Eden is drawn to Cole but isn't sure she should want to be. This story ripped my heart out and left me crying a river of tears in the end. It is a fantastic story that will have you glued to each page and leave you wanting more. A friend gifted this copy to me and I am so glad she did. M. Leighton is a fantastic storyteller and I fall for her hero and heroine every time. So grab this on and enjoy the ride that is Pocketful of Sand.

I really enjoyed this book.  It was heartbreaking as well as breathtaking.  It makes you realize how valuable time is and there is no time to wast the opportunities that are given to each of us.  It was a testimony of out of the worst circumstances the best things can happen.

I have been a fan of M. Leighton since the Bad Boy Novels series...seriously did not think she could ever top Cash and Nash's stories...   but WOW she has done exactly that with Pocketful of Sand! The chemistry between Cole and Eden is nothing short of amazing. Leighton manages to tug at every heart string with this book. This is a read you definitely do not want to miss!!!!! I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book that I have read from this author.  I gave this book 5 stars.  I don't even know where to begin with this book. I had so many feels with this novel. I do have to say that this is one of my favorite reads of 2015. It was real, raw and very emotional. At times it was hard to read, but it is also a very beautifully told story that was told with the up most of care for the situations that were in the book.  It is a story that deals with loss, betrayal, grief, love, and healing.  It is a story of second chances and new beginnings.  A story that grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. I couldn't put this book down, my eyes burned and my head started to hurt and I still wanted to keep reading.  I'm not sure if the other books that M. Leighton has out are the same, but I do want to find out! I can't wait to read more of her work.  Thank you for this beautiful, touching story that you shared with us. This is a book that will be with me for a very long time.  I just know that when I go to the beach and see the sand and the sandcastles that this book is going to come to the fore front of my mind.  Grab your tissues this is a dry your eyes kind of book.  <3
