About the Author
I was born in Stockport, Manchester and grew up here with my parents and sister. I still live here now with my husband and two daughters. I am lucky to have my family and friends living close to me.
I have had a variety of jobs since leaving school; these include working in hotels, mainly as a receptionist. Shortly after having my first daughter we went to live and work in Spain for a short time where I worked in a bar/restaurant. I have worked in the sports industry for around ten years as an aerobics instructor and in schools and nurseries teaching multi-sports and cheerleading. I am currently teaching in schools as well as pursuing a new career path as a beauty therapist.
I have written poetry from an early age for special occasions. I would put them in cards for my family to read. The more I saw what pleasure they got from reading them, the more I wrote. I read tributes I had written to my late grandparents at their funerals; these are included in my book. I felt I had done them justice in describing their kind, loving nature throughout their lives. As my granddad also wrote, I feel this is ultimately what has given me the push to write my book. I found myself waking during the night with jumbled words and couldn’t settle until I had put them into a poem or rhyme.
I have a passion for writing and feel I have a sensitive nature which is portrayed in my writing. Although I feel very lucky in life, I find myself thinking of other people’s pain and realise that although we can’t always cure, we can help in the smallest ways. I hope my book helps people have a better understanding and respect for others and themselves.
Rhyming poetry is a nice way to communicate and express feelings about various aspects of everyday life. With poetry you are able to pick it up and enjoy it all in one go or in bits without having to remember a plot or characters of a story.
I have really enjoyed writing my book and feel there is more to follow. I am grateful to Pneuma Springs for giving me the opportunity to share my work with the world.
Natalie Mason is available for interviews and to write feature articles as well as web chats and guest blogs.
