This inspiring anthology for mothers celebrates the powerful and unique relationship between a mother and a child. Many poets have been moved to write about either their mothers or their children. Divided into five chapters, this collection explores the many ways in which mothers convey their love for their children, from lulling them to sleep, washing and dressing them, to dreaming about their future. It also contains poems in which children express their reciprocal love and gratitude.
Including poetry by Percy Bysshe Shelley and Louisa May Alcott, accompanied by beautiful paintings, from artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Mary Cassatt, this collection is a wonderful gift for lovers of fine art and poetry enthusiasts alike.

This is a very beautiful book.It makes Motherhood so romantic. It brings back the thoughts of old when mothers had the time to enjoy their babies every experience. The poems and pictures are something to cherish. Its written in the old form of the 1800and 1900's. A time when everything was captured in beauty. Besides the wonderful poems, the pictures are wonderful art work.Worthy of framing. I truly enjoyed the book before I gave it to my Granddaughters for mothers day.I hope they cherish it ,even if only the picture,as much as I did ,and save it as a gift for their daughters.
I thought this would be a great book for my daughter for Mother's Day. It has a lot of the poems I remember as a child growing up and some that are new as well. I think she will really enjoy it and maybe even try to write a few poems herself after reading this book; it's very inspirational. I like the way it is divided into sections such as A Mother's Love; Games, Rhymes and Lullabies; A Helping and Guiding Hand; Hopes and Fears; and Ode to Mothers. The pictures are great, too - wonderful scenes of mothers and children illustrating the special bond each has with the other. What a gem!
