Overview

If asked when is a good time to start writing poetry my response is simply when you feel passion for life. I was seventy-five years old when I was consumed by this passion. The sound of the ocean, the shapes of clouds, the ubiquitous scents that filled my lungs and the beauty of the scenes that entered my eyes guided my thoughts. For fifty plus years I rode the daily treadmill. Life had established boundaries of thought. Of course it was actually my world view that defined what my life would be. But now in the winter of my life the sun shines daily and the palm trees wave good morning. What was once distractions are now my guide posts. The task at hand is the search for beauty. Whether it be a majestic sunset or a mother caressing a newborn child moves me. To say love is life I hold the feelings and thoughts that the presence or absence of it shapes one's life. Love is a perpetual search. To find love if it is not present and to keep it, if it's there. Love is the most important human endeavor. The significance of this point to me shall be evidenced by the poems in the manuscript.

About the Author

If asked when is a good time to start writing poetry my response is simply when you feel passion for life. The author was seventy-five years old when he was consumed by this passion. Always a lover of poetry, Robert was a reader and not a writer. He started out writing poems using paintings as his model. Dante Gabriel Rossetti is given the credit by Robert. He felt comfortable is the English sonnet, but now writes using various forms. Currently in his favor is the Villanelle. He also has come to like improvising with a Tanka of many verses. Most of Robert's unscheduled time is writing poetry.
