Okay, a 'Politically Incorrect'-anything is probably trying too hard, but this breezy survey of 600 years of British literature [with another 200 years of US writing tacked on at the end] is informative and fun, if a bit too joyful in its self-importance. Not only have I found half a dozen British authors I want to explore, but all 10 recommended American works are readily accessible on-line. If you have an open mind and some holes in your literary history, this book can be quite an interesting read, and perhaps even a book-shopping list for months/years to come.

Dr. Kantor wonderfully explains how literature has been supressed in colleges across the country. She writes about how English and American literature really do have worth, even if most of the writers were 'Dead White Males.' Her understanding of the English language is vast also. I recommend this read to college freshmen.
