Follow the adventures of Pooks and Boots as they survive in the wilderness and eventually find a warm home where they meet Jesus!
This book is a unique and fun way to introduce the powerful word of God to children around the world. This book can enter the homes of all and allow parents and children to learn together, knowing that it is based on the true Word of God. It will teach children that Jesus is the biggest and most powerful superhero, and He lives within us if we believe in Him. Bible verses will be placed at the beginning of each book to help establish the basis for the adventurous story to follow.
Many books are available with cute animal characters, but this book series is different. The Pooks, Boots, and Jesus books are based on real-life adorable cats, Pooks and Boots. They once lived in the wilderness, then a shelter, and now live with my husband and I in a loving Christian home.
Their purpose is twofold: to teach the word of God in their books and provide a platform by which they can give to children and animals in need with the Pooks, Boots and Jesus Paw It Forward Program. This is their way of “pawing” it forward.
The Pooks, Boots, and Jesus team pray for all those who write to them. If your child or animal in need is selected Pooks and Boots may send money to their cause, or an autographed Pooks, Boots, and Jesus book or maybe both. You can reach out to them at their website: pooksbootsandjesus.com. They would love to hear from you!

Bottom Line: Top quality artwork, solid Bible-based story, and some adorable cats that can help teach Children about Jesus Pooks and Boots Meet Jesus, by Julie K. Wood, is a fantastic children’s book that has some great artwork and features a couple of adorable cats, all while having a fun story that has some solid Bible-based teaching. In the interest of full disclosure, I do happen to know the author pretty well, not to mention the real live cats the main characters are based on. So I probably do have some bias. But I’ve been reading books for years, and published some 350 reviews for over 2000 helpful votes, so I have a pretty good idea what makes a good book. And this book delivers! It’s an “origin story,” and sets the stage for a series of books featuring Pooks and Boots. The book is 58 pages long, with 23 full-page illustrations by Simon Goodway who did an excellent job of bringing Pooks and Boots to life with high quality artwork featuring bright and vivid colors. The text pages have larger type that will make easy reading for younger readers, and use straight-forward vocabulary for better understanding. The cover is glossy heavy-weight paperback and quite durable. The story itself is based on Matthew 25:34-40, and written in an engaging and entertaining fashion. Julie Wood did a wonderful job bringing an interpretation of this iconic Bible passage to life with her characters, in a way that children can easily understand and act on in their own lives. Additionally, the author has set up a website where adults and children can find out more about Pooks and Boots, including a photo gallery featuring the real cats and their friends, as well as a place children can write to Pooks and Boots. Several ministry partners are also featured on the site as well. Overall, this is the start of a new and unique franchise for children’s Christian books, and I look forward to seeing more from the author in the future.
