An old crime and an irresistible new lead...

When her wealthy art dealer father died, Heather James was expecting a fortune. Instead, his bank account was empty and Heather's working in a bakery, wondering exactly what happened to her father's millions...until someone tries to kill her.

Instead, he's finding himself distracted by a gorgeous woman who drives him crazy in every way imaginable...

Now Tony's in serious trouble. Even if Heather can't-or won't-tell him where the stolen paintings and money are, she may well have stolen his heart.

And now someone wants her dead...

*** This ARC was received from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review*** I like the story and how she had to get kidnapped and pulled back and forth between all of these "bad guys" and also how in the end her father tried right his wrongs. What I didn't care for was how lame the characters were. They were hot and cold, trusting and suspicious even just boring. The sex was pretty unsatisfactory to me.

Heather James has moved into the old home of her late father to sort out his estate. She really can’t understand where hall his money has gone but she’s enjoying working in a local bakery, living in the gatehouse cottage and now has a handsome new tenant in the house. Life should be good, so why does she feel like she’s being followed? Who could be watching her and, possibly more importantly, why? As Heather continues to uncover more about her father’s history she’ll certainly discover all is certainly not well for her. With threats, kidnapping, shooting, murder, historic thefts and fantastic art work, this is a fast paced, enthralling read with plenty of action, a feisty female and handsome hunk, nasty baddies, double dealing, plenty of suspense and romance this is a book that will appeal to many readers and I have no hesitation in highly recommending. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Portrait of a Girl is a wonderful and engaging thriller-suspense full of more twists and turns that a roller coaster. Heather, is left struggling after the death of her father. Receiving nothing except for his estate, she is left wondering where all his money disappeared to. As she works in a bakery to support herself, she rents out her father's estate and her newest tenant is Tony, a man who isn't what he claims to be. Instead he is an agent whose job is to get close to Heather. Needless to say this leads to complications between Heather and Tony along with all the other twists and turns this book takes. I really enjoyed both Heather and Tony's characters. A part of me was surprised I found myself liking Tony so much when I felt so truly awful for Heather when she finds out the truth about who Tony is and what his job was. I was captivated by this thrilling suspense and I really wanted more. I wish the author would have provided an epilogue because I really wanted to know what Heather and Tony were up to after the book ended. I loved this book and thought this new to me author's writing style was fantastic.

This is my first book to read by Luanna Stewart. I was intrigued by the blurb for the book. The plot line was very action packed with quite a few extra complications. I liked the interactions between Sally and Heather. They had a great friendship going, it was nice to see Heather have someone to care for her. Tony and Heather seemed to immediately connect and I wish they would have had more couple time. They were very cute with their flirtatious encounters. I wanted to see more of them, their back stories and more of them getting to know each other. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

Fun to read 4.5 stars I've just finished reading Luanna Stewart's first book Portrait of a Girl! It's a thriller-suspense filled with lies, secrets, danger, and mystery. It's mostly the story of Heather, a young woman working in a bakery, and when her wealthy art dealer father dies, she expected a fortune. Unfortunately, all his money has disappeared, his fortune gone in smoke because of all the debts I left behind. ! Soon, all kinds of strange events happens to her, she gets kidnapped, shot at, then escapes. Are these events related to her father’s death? Enters Tony, a tall and handsome man, who will try to get close to her, to get more information for his art theft cold case he’s been working on. The plot thickens when thieves come along and put Heather in greater danger than Tony had expected. Lots of twists and turns! Nail biting intrigue that grabs you from the very start. Will Heather discover what really happened to her father? Is Tony the man he pretends to be? It's a fun thriller, with lots of suspense with a dash of romance! Thank you NetGalley for sending me a copy of, Portrait of a Girl, in exchange for an honest review!

Portrait is full of action chemistry and laughs. Great Read ***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review**** I really enjoyed this story. Heather James was left with memories of a father who loved her and when he died, all she got was no money and a huge estate and the bills to pay. She was left wondering where all his money went. She is left working in a bakery to make ends meet. She also takes in a tenant who is super-hot and he lives in the big house- and she lives in the little cottage on the property. The said tenant is Tony Simons and he isn’t who he proclaims to be- he is actually an agent working on a trail of an art theft cold case and he has been told to stick super close to Heather and see if he can find anything out that she may know. There is so much attraction between the two that I expected them to be engulfed in flames at any moment. Heather didn’t know until midway into the book that Tony was using her. She was in love with this fantastic guy and she thought he truly cared about her. She was in danger- all kinds of strange events happens to her, she gets kidnapped, shot at, then escapes. All through that, Tony was there for her and she thought that he cared for her. She didn’t know that he was told to be “there” for her. When she found out that he was told to be there, it was as if her heart was shattering. I truly felt for this girl. She didn’t know where to turn or where to go. Yet she stayed because she knew if she went anywhere else, she would be dead. Also, she needed to know why she was in danger and Tony was the only one who could supply the answers. Suddenly, she is kidnapped yet again and taken to FRANCE- WOW, this girl is racking up frequent flyer miles. There are so many layers and twists going on in this story. You think you know the story and who the bad guy is but there are so many more layers to dig thru and bad guys to go thru. Poor Heather, just when things were one way, she has another mystery to try and solve. And Tony, he tried to convince himself that Heather was “just a case” to him but really he was in love with her. Does Tony make it in time to save her? Who are the true bad guys here? Will Heather and Tony have their HEA? The MC made this story so much more special and entertaining. I LOVED this story so much. I would have loved this story more if there could have been a epilogue that touched on their lives maybe a year into their future more. I would love like to know how everything turned out for them. Overall, this was a fantastic story. My rating: 4.4 stars ****
