If you love J. S. Scott and Helen Cooper, don’t miss Laura Marie Altom’s Shamed series! Ella Patton and Liam Stone return in Possess, the breathtaking conclusion to the steamy, contentious love affair that began in Control.
Will you marry me? Those four little words should be a dream come true. But for Ella Patton, they’re the start of a waking nightmare. For despite the insatiable desire she feels for Liam Stone, marriage is out of the question—not that she doesn’t want to . . . but because she can’t. Liam has taught her that love doesn’t need a document to secure commitment. Marriage is more than a piece of paper, so why can’t he be happy the way things are?
Liam has hit a brick wall. His fortune can’t buy Ella’s freedom, though that won’t stop him from having her. Liam didn’t become a billionaire by not pursuing what he wanted. Together they face the demons from her past, but above all they have one force greater than money and influence on their side: love. Will that be enough for them to overcome the obstacles and possess the life they both long for as husband and wife?

May be read as a series or separately.

About the Author

Laura Marie Altom is the author of more than forty books in three different genres. Now that her kids are in college, Altom spends her days writing and chasing after a menagerie of pets: a mini long-haired dachshund named Cocoa, a Yorkie named Daisy, a mutt named Sweet Pea, and Domino—a black-and-white stealth cat she rarely sees. She’s happily married to her college sweetheart (go Hogs!), and when night falls, she steals a few romantic moments for herself with her own hunky cover stud.

As Ella's story continues in Possess, Liam is so completely smitten with her he can't stop trying to make her life everything it should have been. Liam is determined to confront her estranged husband with any means he has to (even through foul means if he must) so Ella will be free. Just when he thinks everything is resolved, Ella still has doubts. This puts a strain on their relationship and they each wonder if they can weather the storm. Possess is an intriguing continuation from Control, filled with seemingly insurmountable obstacles to overcome. The issues seemed to be fairly easy to fix though with Liam's vast supply of money. Eventually the problems appeared to catch up to Ella and Liam. The conflict between them added fuel to their already chaotic relationship. This kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting the hero and heroine to have their happily ever after. Ms. Altom enticed us to devour the story by giving us alternate chapters from Ella and Liam's point of view. It was like having an inside track to the hero's feelings and wouldn't we all love the heck out of that in real life?! I was completely engrossed in Possess, always rooting for love to win out in the end. I was slightly disappointed sometimes when Ella seemed a bit "wishy-washy" with her emotions. I was thrilled to see the hero and heroine's lives moving forward in a more relaxed, loving manner and everything coming together in a sweetly romantic way. I'll most definitely be there for more from Ms. Altom! I can hardly wait! 4 Stars

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review An explosive story of a man who didn't want a relationship... until her. She is madly in love with him... but she is still married to the psychopath she escaped from. Liam feels his lawyer will have no trouble getting Ella divorced from Blaine... until he meets him. Blaine rips Ella from Liam's home, claiming she had been missing and was mentally unstable. Liam vows to get her back no matter what it takes.

An excellent wrap up of Liam and Ella's story! After Liam's stunning proposal and the realization that Ella is still married to her monster of a husband this couples future looks dark. With incredible twists and turns this story had me glued to the pages. Full of suspense, darkness, and unending love, this is one book you will want to read. I highly recommend it.

I started reading this book then had to go back and read Control first. Both books were filled with romance and angst. Both books were extremely stressful. I just wanted them to get a break. I found myself on the edge of my seat through most of both books. It's definitely a worthy read on a night when you can read without putting it down. I loved the characters Liam and Ella. I also loved the characters that surrounded them. The story was so well written and filled with so much tension that I didn't want to put either book down. Happy Reading and hold on for the ride.

4.3 If you have not read Control (Shamed, #1) you should read that before reading this book. When the husband comes back and takes Ella away will Liam be able to get her back? This story if loaded full of twists and turns. Each time you think you have everything figured out you get a new twist. While Liam wants to stop at nothing to get Ella back can he really get to her to get her back? What kind of state will she be in if he can find her? Can you come back from the gates of hell? During the first story I found myself getting angry with the characters. But let me tell you I loved them both by the end of this one. I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Possess by Laura Marie Altom is the second book in her Shamed series. Picking up right where the first book, Control, left off, the story builds up speed heading towards an inevitable showdown between the happy new couple (Ella and Liam) and Ella's hopefully soon-to-be-ex husband. The pivotal, dramatic point in the story is so well-written I was practically fuming at my e-reader. Blaine is the worst kind of person and the hopelessness that Ella felt, I felt. A romance that has bound you so tightly to the main characters that you can't help getting absorbed in every page to the detriment of life outside the pages. I am very eager to read more in this series.

Ella is a strong character and continues to prove that in this book. My only let down was that when I finished, I wanted more of Ella and Liam. At least with the ending of the first book I knew there was a follow up coming. I just don't know how much we'll see them in Nathan and Carol's book but I am looking forward to what those two are going to cook up.

I liked this book about as much as I liked the first; actually I liked it a bit more, but I think the 3 star rating works well for both books. Something I wanted from this book after reading the first book was for the characters to have more growth, but I don't think that really happened. I really couldn't get in tune with Ella; she seemed whiny and naïve, and her decisions were not thought out. If I remember right, which it's possible I don't, Ella was said to be smart and strong, but I didn't get that from her; she seemed to just wimp around, and I get that she went through something horrific and she's justified in some of her actions, but I think her behavior went a bit too over the top. Also, when she said they (Liam and Her) were the beautiful people; I just about gagged; I felt more like she was a teenager, rather than a woman; she felt very immature to me. After all that being said, I was still rooting for her; I just wanted more from her. As for Liam, I like him; his alpha tendencies do go a bit over the top sometimes, but he does check himself for the most part, and I do like him and Ella together. I do like the whole premise of this book, and that's really what saved this book for me because the story kept me interested till the end, and although I was a bit annoyed with the characters, I still wanted to read about their journey. It's a good read. I see there's a 3rd book in the series, so I'm curious about it and who it will feature; it's called Rebound, so I'm thinking Nathan, but we'll see!
