Donna Devall's book offers great insights on how we approach aging. As a clinical social worker working with the elderly, Devall presents her expertise in a thoughtful and provocative way in THE POWER OF POSITIVE AGING: SEEING LIFE AS A GLORIOUS VOYAGE. Her professional experience has contributed to her strong conviction that getting older can be a boon and a privilege. While not denying or minimizing the challenges that aging can present, Devall maintains that it is entirely possible to approach old age with a positive, even embracing attitude. Chapters include important topics such as open-mindedness, coping with change, realignment, dependency and illness as oportunity. This is an excellent book for all ages, young, old and in the middle, including baby boomers as they age and care for their parents.
