About the Author:
Ann Reilly Dines won the Garden Writer's Association of America's award for the best gardening book in 1981 and 1988. She also was a member and director of the Association. Writing over forty-five books on gardening, she was a well-respected gardening writer. She died in 1994 in Belize.

Derek Fell worked as the White House's gardening consultant during the Ford Administration. He has his own show called Step-by-Step Gardening on the cable television shopping channel QVC. He's written several books, including Renoir's Garden, 550 Perennial Garden Ideas, and The Impressionist Garden, and contributes to The New York Times Magazine, Architectural Digest, Garden Design, and Veranda.
