As someone who's been actively involved in this community for years, as someone who's attended seminars (even the Practical Paleo seminar), someone who wrote a paleo book (Eat Like a Dinosaur) I am LEARNING NEW STUFF in Diane's book. There's SO much information - I've had the book for weeks and am still finding new things. Diane's poignant and practical definition of complicated concepts, are so very clear to me - a skill she has a knack for unlike anyone I know of in our community. The entire book takes all the ideas you just can't quite figure out, and makes it easily digestible, easy to understand, and absolutely practical to implement. This book is intended to be used like a reference book, and that's just what it is. From the tailored information on specific conditions (in my case, Autoimmune) to the reference points on leaky gut, carbs and blood sugar regulation, everything you're looking for is here. There's even sections on stress reduction and self care. I personally followed the Autoimmune protocol defined in the book for 3 weeks. I took seriously Diane's personal challenge to de-stress and followed, exactly, her defined protocol in Practical Paleo. After some serious hair pulling, temper tantrums and screaming about how limited I sometimes felt (thankfully the book has lots of ideas and recipes to make it interesting)... the results are in: My skin is clearing up! Admittedly, the massive break-outs on the lower half of my face are one of the main contributors for my commitment to eating more cleanly. I found this link which validated for me that it was caused by too much sugar (hormones) and stress. I'm so glad to be getting perfect skin back again! No longer bloated or retaining water. I lost 7lbs, SEVEN POUNDS, in the first week. Yes, that's water weight; which is just as awful to carry around! My wedding rings went from being tight to loose in 2 weeks. So do I recommend Practical Paleo? Without a doubt. It will now be the #1 book I recommend to anyone. Because whether you have heart problems, diabetes, are recovering for cancer, are an athlete, want to lose weight, have digestive problems or allergies from food - this book has been tailored to you. There's not a single person in the world that wouldn't benefit from reading this fantastic book. And then on top of all of that, you get 120 amazing and beautifully photographed recipes. That's more than some cookbooks! This is the most informative and comprehensive nutritional guide we've ever read. Diane has nutritional plans for whatever ails you: from autoimmune, celiac and thyroid conditions, to heart health, athletic performance and cancer survivors. And each one of these plans includes a full thirty day meal plan, nutritional supplements, supportive nutrients (my favorite) as well as diet & lifestyle just for that condition. Honestly, this kind of tailored in-depth nutritional counseling would run you thousands of dollars and Diane is only charging you two Andrew Jacksons (and only one if you order from Amazon). Not only that, but it's completely accessible for non-paleo types who just want relief for whatever health issue they are dealing with, explaining in easy to understand and scientifically sound terms.

I bought this book for my Nook, and I LOVE it!! Diane makes it easy, and the recipes are delicious!! I also purchased the hard copy so I could have the tear-out sheets. Anyone who is wanting a healthier lifestyle - please check out Practical Paleo. It has truly changed life for this 60-year-old out! I'm living again!!

This book is truly nothing short of a nutritional BIBLE. I say bible because it should live on forever through generations as the go to staple for all things nutrition related. I was happy when I received this book and it was only 400 something pages but after I read it I realized it could have been 800 and I would have been ok with it. It is so easy to read and understand as well as practically apply to life, I am assuming that is why the book is titled like it is. And just in case you aren't accountable or can not plan things on your own, there are 10 customizable meal plans and even TEAR OUT guides to use for reference. I know more people out there are fascinated by shiny colors to some of you will enjoy the tear outs as much as I did.

Practical Paleo is hands down the best nutrition I have ever encountered. It is jam packed of everything you need to know about to improve you health and information about what food does to your body. Diane has put this information in a very easy to read, well organized format. The recipes are amazing and I can't wait to start making them. Anyone can pick up this book and look at a few pages and know right away they need this book. I highly recommend this book to ANYONE concerned with the food they put in their body.

This book is fantastic. We have been eating paleo for a few years and the meal plans have been a great addition to our cooking. I also like the spice blends section that you can add to just about anything.

I saw a friend's copy of Practical Paleo and was enthralled by it. When I got my Nook copy, which would be so practical if you needed to check recipe ingredients while shopping, I discovered it was very different. There are very few recipes. There is no index. It is interesting to read, but the recipes were my goal. This is my first disappointing Nook book. It is not at all the same as the print version!

I love this book! I felt a little overwhelmed trying to read this on my nook so I actually went out and purchased the physical book. I highly recommend actually getting the book, it's just easier. But if you want to stick with E-books it's still useable. There is sooooo much information in this book! It's easy to understand and has food that my family likes not "weird food". :)

Practical Paleo sets you up with all the information to succeed. From the why Paleo to the 30 day meal plans for every individual- autoimmune conditions, blood sugar regulation, fat loss, cancer recovery along with so many others! Recipes are pretty easy and fun, producing delicious dishes that I really enjoy. I have so many tags and folded corners of recipes I can't wait to try! 2 thumbs up :)

"Practical Paleo" is an amazing resource for anyone who is interested in moving towards a "paleo" lifestyle or curious about how to reduce the effects of the Standard American Diet in their own life. The information that Diane provides is easy to understand and non-judgemental, regardless of what your current lifestyle is there is something to learn. The photos are stunning and the recipes are easy to personalize. I would recommend it to anyone who has questions about what being "paleo" is all about.

Basic straightforward book. Very informative and has many meal plans for various health conditions. The recipes all have modifications if you are following a specific protocol. I love the lettuce cup recipes and the seasoning blends. I make the ghee recipe all the time as well. Everything I have tried in this book, my family has loved.

Like The Paleo Approach by Sarah Ballantyne, this book starts off with information about not only what not to eat, but why not to eat certain food groups like grains and legumes. The difference is that the Paleo Approach is like taking a college course in food chemistry while Practical Paleo is more of an overview. There are also chapters on various conditions (diabetes, thyroid) which are interesting. Where this book excels are the recipes. They cover all meals, use many readily available ingredients and are not complicated to prepare. There are many illustrations. There is also a section on spice blends, which is very helpful since spice blends that you find in the supermarket may contain off-limit ingredients.

Love this book! It's a great, great primer on nutrition. Has sections on autoimmune disease, for those who want to lose fat, heart disease, thyroid disease, and more! You don't have to be "into" Paleo to love this book- you just have to be into good food and good health to love it! Buy this book- you will not regret it!

I love this cookbook! Everything I have made has been delicious! I have made 15-20 of the recipes so far and my family loves all of it. I purchased 2 other paleo cookbooks at the same time as this one and the recipes out of those have been mediocre at best. The meal plans are especially helpful in making sure you get the variety if nutrients that you need.
