About the Author
William Wilberforce (1759–1833) was a British politician, philanthropist, and abolitionist. After serving in Parliament, Wilberforce converted to Christianity, which forever changed his personal and political life. For years he led a campaign to abolish the British slave trade, which succeeded shortly before his death.
