Four teenagers, one the star quarterback of his high school's team, their fathers, their priests plus a corrupt college booster and a police captain, collide with greed, ambition and convoluted definitions of morally right. All are blanketed by a dark cloud involving the accidental death of three young boys in Gary Repetto's, "Prairie Fire."
A Chicago Catholic High School football powerhouse in the late 1950's is the setting for Repetto's tense drama that has good and evil spreading onto the football field, into locker rooms and classrooms and the backroom of a neighborhood saloon. A religious and lay faculty, coaches, some who play by the rules, others twisting them, find themselves in a crunching, crushing pile up of teenagers and adults until Repetto brings his story to a skillful and dramatic conclusion.
