The Pram Factory was the umbrella under which a rough-and-ready Australian theatre revival was produced amid the sex, drugs and rock’n’roll of Carlton in the 1970s. This is a first hand account of how a bunch of quite ordinary people created an extraordinary institution. An amusing, idiosyncratic chronicle, it reveals the characters, kitchen politics, lifestyle and modus operandi of a unique theatre collective whose influence continues to reverberate in Australia’s theatre, film and television industries.
