About the Author

LS Pomeroy has always loved people and telling stories. She began writing short stories at age 10, and poetry in her teens. In high school she gave inspirational talks at teen retreats, using stories to teach faith lessons. At 18 she served as an interim youth minister. She left college to work full-time, then married and raised her daughter.

In her late 40's she was diagnosed with inoperable lung tumors at the same time as her first marriage ended. A Navajo friend advised her to thank the Great Spirit every morning and evening until she knew what next to do. She turned her friend's advice into a prayer, "Good Morning Great Spirit" and prayed it every day. After writing prose and prayers to help herself recover, she began to offer them when others needed comfort and encouragement.

Her poem "No More," about thriving after emotional and mental abuse, was published in the Women's Studies Spring Quarterly of Arizona State University in 2000. Soon after she started calling herself Marie to honor healing as a woman.

To learn the ways of well-being, she studied world religions, spiritual and emotional healing methods, intra-cultural communication, and food as medicine. In 2005 she became an Herbal Information Specialist as a Sprouts Farmers Market employee.

"Vitamin Department customers receive more than educational information from me. I offer them true tales, loving encouragement, and my prayers."

"Prayers Along the Way" is Marie's first published book of prayers.
