From the imaginations of twenty authors of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction comes PREP FOR DOOM - an integrated collection of short stories that tell the tale of a single catastrophe as experienced by many characters, some of whom will cross paths.
What begins with a seemingly innocuous traffic accident soon spirals into a global pandemic. The release of Airborne Viral Hemorrhagic Fever upon New York City's unsuspecting populace brings bloody suffering within hours, death within a day, and spreads worldwide within a month.
An online community called Prep For Doom has risen to the top of a recent doomsday preparation movement. Some have written them off as crazy while others couldn't be more serious about the safety the preppers could provide in a global disaster. But when AVHF strikes, their preparation may not be enough to save them.

Reviewed by Francine Zane for Readers' Favorite Prep for Doom is a dystopian tale written around the annihilation of the majority of the world's population. When a deadly virus sweeps around the world, those who remain are left shell shocked by the sudden death of everything and everyone they hold dear. Each person deals with the horrific event and the search for survival in his or her own way. This premise makes for the perfect opportunity for E.R. Arroyo and the members of Band of Dystopian to dissect the event into a cohesive collection of short stories, each told by a different author from a different point of view, but all sharing the common threads of this one terrifying event. An author once told me it was virtually impossible for two or more people to collaborate on a single project and maintain a consistent voice. Prep for Doom is proof that while it may be difficult, it is not impossible. E.R. Arroyo and the members of Band of Dystopian masterfully worked together to create a collection of short stories that read as fluidly as a full-blown novel. Each chapter flows naturally into the next, creating a time line that allows the reader to see how society devolves as the virus turns the world into a chaotic trip into horror. Prep for Doom does what all good stories do. It elicits a reaction from the reader and makes you think about what you would do into the same situation, as well as how easy it would be for fiction to become reality.
Life-and-Death Drama on Every Page Twenty authors have come together to create this haunting anthology. If reading about apocalyptic worlds where a plague is raging and survival is uncertain, then this is the book for you. All the authors write about the same world and same epidemic, but each one gives it a totally new and unique twist. Prepare for some heart-pounding terror as the main characters make gut-wrenching decisions that may save – or possibly destroy – lives. Do they have what it takes to survive – or will they become the next victims.
LOVED LOVED this anthology. I loved the way all the authors worked their stories around a central theme about an apocalyptic event. Every story is so well written and draws you into the whole book. It is seamless and it is probably the best one I have read. Each author brings their own personal touch to their story within the book. If you are looking for a great read to pass the time waiting on an apocalypse, this is for you.
